35 min nap - UT or OT?
« on: July 21, 2011, 00:15:59 am »
Sorry, not too long to post but remind me - are 35 min naps UT?  I seem to recall that somewhere in my tired brain.  ;)

We've been pushing out Grace's morning A time slowly.  Yesterday we did 1h25 after a decent but not fantastic night and got a 1h35m nap.  Last night she did pretty well and (shockingly, I think for the first time in her life!) slept all the way until 7:15.  So I told DH to put her down at 1h30.  She fought it and only slept 35m.  Screwed up the rest of the day and she was totally OT by this evening.  UT this morning, yes?

If we have a decent night tonight should I go to 1h35?  1h40?  Her A's the rest of the day seem to hover around 1h25 if she's having good naps, although I can never seem to get it right to get 2 good naps in a row.  Sorry I don't have time to write out a full EASY.  ::)

Thanks....

Normally I would say 35 mins can tend to be OT ???, but in your situation Kate, I think it was in fact UT. Especially since she fought it. I find nap resistance the worst when I've misread cues and he's UT. I would definitely try and stretch that first A, watch cues first of course, but I'd go for 1hr 40 personally. (again, assuming you've had a good night/start to the day)...

Glad to hear you had a good night last night! Hope tonight goes just as well!! xo

Agree with Rebecca. Usually for us 35 mins is OT, but that sounds UT :)

Thanks, girls.   That's what my gut said as well.

Now, last night was terrible.  :(  Up for about 1.5h with her squiggling around and clearly uncomfortable.  We went out to dinner (basically the first time since G was born!) and I was so careful to ask about everything and they were so nice but something must have gotten in since she was clearly bothered.  Argh!!

Anyhow, thoughts on today's first A after the bad night?  I just don't know what to tell DH these days!!

I might have missed this A time already, but I'd still aim for at least 1.5 hrs..

Well I ended up having to run out without talking A times with DH. Whoops. The babysitter has her this morning so I have no idea what's going on!  Will be back so you ladies can help me make a plan for tomorrow. ;)
