I would try & keep the nap at midday for a few days, he was probably OT by 12.30pm hence the resistance you're getting.

Does he have a Gro-clock or something similar?

It would be worth trying to get a look in his mouth (although difficult, I know!) as his behaviour does smack of 2nd year molars?

Hi Sianie!

We don't have a Groclock and I had thought he wouldnt "get" it yet but now I'm thinking its worth a try! Will look for one today.....

Come to think of it, we often give meds at5.50am when he wakes to see if he will go back off - he doesn't really but is happy all morning. Towards the end of the day he gets more grumpy. Obviously this could be because hes getting tired but could it be because he is actually teething and needs some meds? Thinking of doing four hourly meds today just to see if it makes any difference..is that silly?

And will get DH to do some tickling at nappy time to see if he will open his mouth wide enough to let us see anything.

Thanks for helping and will be back!

Murray actually lets me put my fingers in his mouth to feel his teeth - we call it a "tooth check"! Only been bitten once doing it!

I was surprised at how well the groclock worked - you can get them from kiddicare :)

DD had her Gro-clock when she turned 2 & understood it well at that age so I would certainly consider it.

I think DD was napping no more than 1.5hrs at your DS's age so yes, I would definitely not let him sleep more than 2hrs.

Murray can sleep for 3 hours and it wont affect his bedtime - but he can sleep really late and still need his bed not long after his usual bedtime. Depends on your LO

DH has managed to count all Bram's teeth and he has 20!  So molars are all through. Slightly disappointed as i wanted to blame all this on teething!!!

Definitely ordering a groclock tonight online.

Nap today was 2.20 mins - didn't see the reply in time. Bedtime at 6.40 and chatted until 7.10 but with no shouting. Hasn't shouted at all this weekend while going to sleep so thats a positive - its the shouting that I find hard to deal with.

Hoping for a later wake up than 5.50am tomorrow!

Thank you again, Nell xxxxx

Fingers crossed for you - happy online shopping - if you use kidstart or top cashback (forgotten which one to use with kiddicare) you get some money back too.  I love the groclock as it can be used for daytime and nighttime (it has 2 times you can set) and has stars that disappear as time progresses. To begin with I set it to a time I could guarantee he would sleep past so that he definitely woke to the sun ... and added bonus is that now he shouts "mummy/daddy I see the sun" over and over until we get him out his cot, rather than crying :)  have to say that the book that comes with it isn't great but okay to read

Thanks Lucy!

Bram did really well last night. No NW and woke briefly at 5.35am - DH went in and settled him and he slept til 6.30am! Hasn't happened for a looong time. My folks had him today so nap was 12.30 til 2.30 and bed at 6.45pm. didn't shout just chatted for ten mins : ) . Is he finally coming out of his OT - ness?
Can't believe he's not teething though as he hasn't eaten much today at all!

Hugs, Nell xxxxxxx

Thank you lovely people!

1 brief NW (in a funny position) and woke at 6.05am. Nap has to be late at Nursery unfortunately - 1.15-2.30 - and in bed at 6.45pm. Wanted him down for earlier but don't finish til 6 and he had to have bath as he was filthy! But only spoke for ten mins. now silent....: )

Fingers and toes crossed we are on the right track. Trouble is DH goes away  for 5 days tmrw morning and he is the calm logical one! Hope he doesn't come back to sleep chaos!

Thanks for your continued support xxxx
