How are things going becky?

we were out of town for a couple days, so had car naps.  Today, I had these great plans of enforcing a "hush hour."  Got her a special blanket, nap mat.  Gave her the choice of where to lie it, she chose my bed (at first.... ::)).  We laid in my bed reading - it lasted a whopping 10 minutes before she was bouncing around.  Then we brought the mat to her room, put it on the floor, I told her she could look at books, play, whatever. Went to leave she flipped.  So I said, fine, forget it. Bring your mat to the couch, we'll watch tv. I closed the blinds, got her cosy, and put on this Disney documentary thing I found about oceans.  Calm voice, lots of wave sounds, calm music.  I ignored her everytime she commented or asked questions. And guess what?!?!? She fell asleep!!!!  ;D   She's lying next to me right now with her legs hanging off the side of the couch, lol.  This is NOT a kid who sleeps on the couch, or anywhere but her bed or the car.  And she hasn't napped in the house for weeks. I'm sure I won't get her to do it again, but I'll enjoy it today!

glad you got a nap. We got a half hour car ride but I just don't know what I am going to do with him really as I should not do car rides really. This weekend has been really tough with both of them and their sleep issues. Yuk :(

so sorry, Becky.  i know it must be so rough with 2 of them.  I'm pulling my hair out most of the time with my one.

Is he getting a car nap everyday mostly?  Is his morning creeping earlier still?

So sorry you're going through this sleep junk... It's the pits.

yes mostly he is as his mornings have been earlier and he is clearly tired. I know I should just probably do quiet time on the sofa but it is not that quiet tbh and I am really scared of early bedtimes - they have not worked much before.

I think in the dropping of the nap this is the exception.  I really think you should try it hun.  I know Wendy has had some success with it and her EWer

I was like that about early BT's too Becky & was convinced they wouldn't work, but I bit the bullet & gave it a go & it really did help (but you do need to stick to it for a few days).

I've been concerned about early bt's too.

How early would you go if you get a 6:15 wakeup for instance.  So far, we've done 6:30 at the earliest, no matter the wake time.

I would do between 11.5hr and 12hrs from wake up.  Ideally nearer the 11.5 but I know that is not always possible!

we have been doing about 12 hours from wake-up but maybe we should try 6.30pm. Eek!

he has been staying in bed until 7am when his sunshine comes up - sometimes he is asleep till then, often awake around 6am and I tell him it is still night time.

In which case I'd have him in bed as close to 6pm as possible.  What time did you get him down tonight?

11.5hr days seem to work best here, although it's easier said than done as doing a very early BT is a challenge to say the least!
