does flying affect supply?
« on: July 26, 2011, 13:34:13 pm »
I read somewhere that flying can affect milk supply...I asked the HV and she looked puzzled.  I'm flying to the US next month (10hr flight) and since LO is 5.5mths and just starting solids, refuses formula, supply is definately important!

I haven't heard that before - I suppose you can get dehydrated a bit on planes which would dry you up a bit, but as long as you are drinking that wouldn't be an issue.  I have done short flights (2 hrs) and it wasn't an issue.  Good luck with your flight.  Your LO will probably be great on the plane, as the engine noise is soothing - it was the only time Murray fell asleep independently when he was around 4 months old :)
L x Having a bw break from 1 Feb 2012 - if you want to get in touch please send me a pm.  I may not be here but you are all in my thoughts xxxx (probably be back some time)

still happily married, just not counting!

I went to Brazil BF DD and then DS and it wasn't a problem (actually BF made the trip so much easier!).
I would agree with pp about making sure you're well hydrated.
