Nap extensions
« on: July 26, 2011, 20:02:51 pm »
I struggle to get my LO past the 30 min nap mark, I go in to his room before he wakes, put my hand on his back and try to comfort him when he wakes but it very rarely works. I have tried to then PUPD but 30 mins seems to be enough for him to resist further sleep even though he's still tired, I have tried PUPD for 40 mins a few times but I have to give in and try again later, I really don't want to teach him that if he cries for long enough I'll get him up, so lately if he is awake enough to stand I just get him up.
Does anyone have any nap extension suggestions or advice?

Hi sorry for my slow reply, our day looks like this
6am up for day (this always used to be 7, but for the last 3 weeks or so it's been 6)
6.45/7 BF
7.30 breakfast
8/8.30 sleep This sleep will either be 30 mins or 1hr max
9.00 up
10.00 BF
11.30/12 lunch
12.00 sleep if morning nap was 30mins then this nap may be 1 HR but normally this is 30 mins
1.00 ( may do lunch if we didn't manage it before sleep)
2/3 5oz bottle of formula
4/5 catnap for 30mins
5.30/6 dinner
6.30/7 bath
7/7.30 bed
We have atleast 2 NF usually at either 12 or 2 and 4 or 5.
LO is 8 months on Friday.
I will be weaning night feeds soon but he's got a tummy bug at the moment so I just want to make sure he's getting enough fluids.
Let me know what you think

It looks like your LOs A times need to be increased :) The first nap is likely UT and by BT your LO is OT IYKWIM
I think you will need to gently increase your LOs first A to start with maybe 10 mins at a time every few days to get a longer nap.

have a look at the link below which gives example routines for 7-9month olds.

The tummy bug wont help either poor wee man :(
