Should I wake him up?
« on: August 02, 2011, 22:58:27 pm »
Hi,

My little boy seems to like a really long morning nap he is up and 7am for a feed then down again about 8:45/9am
next feed is due at 11am but sometimes he is still fast and deep asleep. Should I wake him or let him go and have
shorter nap in the afternoon?

Thanks!

Also would it be ok for him to have say am nap 2hrs, pm nap 1.5hrs and evening nap 1.5hr  instead of 2x2hr and a catnap or will that just make it harder to reduce down to 2 naps later on?

Hi, I have a very similar problem with my 7 month DD.
For example, this morning she went to sleep at 9:30am. As she didnt wake herself at 10am at 10:15am I went and opened the curtains. Allowing her to naturally wake up. It was 10:30am and nothing - she was sound asleep. Worried that she wouldn't go down for her Lunchtime nap I opened the tap in the sink which seemed to wake her up (the sound of running water wakes her up).
This afternoon she had a 1 hour nap from 2 till 3. Fingers crossed she is ready for bed by 7!.
I share your same dilemma, to wake or not to wake.

i have a similar issue with my 9 wk old. he often takes long afternoon naps and i wonder if that is causing him to wake at 4-5 am and not be able to settle back into a deep sleep. i usually wake him after 2 or 2.5 hours, but i don't know if i should.
of course as i type this, he's wide awake after an hour nap.
