Ew Amy that sucks :( We had EW between 4-5 months and they are the pits. Do you think that nap needs to be pushed out more!! All I can say is I am sure this is going to happen to us soon ::) so listening in to any advice too.

.... Are you sure she isn't just preparing herself for NZ time ;)

It's probably an accumulation of OT building up.  You can either try a two nap day to if that helps or stick to one naps in the hope that you can ride it out.

Riding it out for now! Sara I don't thin Kane could physically last any longer at the moment her nap is at about 11.20am so that means today the first a time is 6.5 hours! Will do like Liz suggested and keep with it for about a week in the hope she self regulates! We have had ew's since 4 months so nothing new.....just had my hopes pinned on them disappearing after the move to one nap!

I still think then maybe as Karen says it could be cumulated OT like we talked about on 2-1...you didn't see any OT signs though did you? You are sticking with a set nap aren't you? GOod luck for the week. If she doesn't regulate what I do to get DS back to normal hours is offer nap earlier and a CN or early BT, this doesn't work for all of us though! :-*

She woke at 5.20 so almost 11 hours!
It probably is OT accumulating but she has to be OT to make the transition it is going to happen one way or another. I am just hoping she can sort herself out. I am just going to stick with it even if it takes two weeks.....no going back now!
If things get really bad I will just do a short nap in the am and long na over the lunch but I am reluctant to go back down that road iykwim

I agree it will be a build up of OT as well - but obviously you know whether you would be better throwing in a 2 nap day or not. I really didn't once I had started as Megan was just so much happier, and as I was ill it was just easier for everyone for everything to be the same every day.

It certainly took longer than a week for the OT to settle and the EWs to go. She had been EWing for MONTHS and I think there was an elemental of habit to it as well. We had given up trying to get her back to sleep at the EW ages ago as she just didn't and just wanted up - but we always left her to twitter for as long as we could as if we got her up the floorboards woke DS  ::) ::). TBH we still hear her at about 5ish, but these days she goes back to sleep after just a few minutes.

I would say after 2 weeks the silly EWs had gone, and we were reliably getting 10.5hr nights. So at that point we moved bedtime back a bit to get a 6am wake-up - and that suited me fine as that is what we always did with DS as well. And then about 4 weeks or so after that she started sleeping longer.

So a mix of habit and OT driving EWs no doubt - but there was no other fix - and we were all happier with the 1 nap day - so we just stuck to it.

I guess what I am saying is don't expect the EWs to vanish any time soon  :-\ :-\. But make your decision on the whole picture as her sleep habits will start to mature soon into that of a toddlers rather than a baby iyswim??

Decision made no going back :)
Ew's here since 4 months we also don't try to get her back asleep at 5 as it is pointless all she wants is up to play.
She jus there woke from a three hour nap so I do think what ever OT she is accumulating is being wiped out in the nap as she is consistently doing 2.5/3 hour naps!
She is also much happier on one nap and as we are traveling in two weeks I think it will be much easier on everyone if Cassie is on one nap!
Of corse typical ds stopped the ew's just as dd started hers, will get them back when they are teenagers :p

I totally agree with you Amy. If she is napping that long totally safe to keep powering through.

I would (and did) do the same.

My DS is an EWer as well. Nice to know someone else lucked out and got 2!!!

Larks I call them :p
So yesterday went
Wake 5.20
Sleep 10.45 we had been swimming and I couldn't keep her up any longer!
Wake 1.45
Sleep in bed for 6.30 so asleep by about 6.45
She woke this morning at 5 and it was a different wu then normal. She wasn't laughing in her cot or chatting yet she wasn't crying too much. So I gave her a bottle and put her back in the cot, I could see on the monitor that she was trying to get back asleep. She cried out again at 5.30 I rocked her for 5mins and left her, after another few mins she cried out again, this time I just patted her bum. She was out in two mins she slept another 30 mins so wu was 6.15. She was clearly tired this morning and struggled to fall back asleep. She would be lying in the cot with her eyes closed but unable to fall back asleep again!
Will I stick with nap at 11.30?

Yeah I would.

This is the habit bit isn't it?? Waking after 10.5hrs as she always does. If you can get her back like you did even just a few times it will hopefully help overcome it  :-* :-* :-*.

Got a 6am wake up this morning whoo hoo and could have been longer but ds woke her shouting out for me!
So yesterday went
Wake 5.30
Sleep 11.10
Wake 1.45
Sleep 6.20 ( didn't mean to do a such a short a time I just calculated wrong)
So aiming for 11.30 today and again 4.5 hours after the wu from nap!

Looking good honey  :-*

We are getting shorter nights again here. I'm sure so much of it is just teething really though  ::).

Hi last few days have been going fine, naps ranging between two hours and three. Today however she woke after 1 hour 15 mins. Not sure if it teething...she was fine before her nap so didn't give any pain meds, or Hunger, I moved her to cows milk a few days ago and she is def hungrier.
I gave both meds and milk when she woke but it isn't happening she just won't go back asleep.
Today she woke crying at 4.45 gave her milk and she eventually (5.15am) fell back asleep till 5.45
So woke 5.45
Sleep 11.30
Wake 12.45
I am thinking of bedtime at 5.30??? At least then even if she wakes at 5 she will have had a long night sleep, don't fancy my chances of getting cn with ds around! What do you think?
