My 2 year old won't drink out of a sippy cup

I've been trying to get my 2 yr old to drink out of a sippy cup but he won't. He also will only drink milk, he hates juice, water etc. We're going on holiday abroad soon and I want him to drink water because it's going to be hot so I'm a little concerned. What can I try - please help??

Have you tried another type of cup?  I know loads of people rave about doidy cups?  Or have you tried a straw or a funky straw cup (might be exciting enough for them to try?)  I have a 15 month old so I don't know what 2 year olds are like yet but I had problems with my son taking water and found if I left a cup out with water in it, he would get it himself when he was thirsty.  I now do this every day changing it every couple of hours or so and he drinks plenty of water and picks it up himself to do so.

What does he currently drink his milk out of?

 I agree with pp, try different ones. Does he like anything in particular like Toy Story or In The Night Garden? You could get a cup with one of his favourite characters on it.

 Straw cups have always been a hit around here too!

 Or you could even try an open cup, perhaps giving him a bit of independance might help.

Give up the sippy cup, my son would prefer to drink from an open cup or a straw when he was 2 yr old obviously imitating grown-ups. Try giving him an open cup even if it means that he will constantly get wet.
