Katie, good luck to you too! How are things going so far?

Sara, i know, he feels young to me too. i thin we'll go back to a full dose but his Dr. wanted us to try! He's on ranitidine and doing well on it. we had a MUCH better night last night, only 2 NW, and after a full day of travel to our cottage we are ready to get back on pushing those A times :) we don't have to do anything but way, sleep, and swim while we are here so its the perfect time. PLUS he always sleeps better when we are here, maybe the fresh air? Whatever, works for me :)

I'll update you all when i can!

Heather - Things here are getting a little better. I think pushing the A times really helps with the night sleep. 2 nights ago Jude sent to bed at 7:30 (I am trying to push BT back to see if he can sleep later!) and he slept until 5:00am. After a feed he went back to sleep right away for another 1.5hr! Yeah! First time he has ever woken up at 7:00 to start his day without a 1-2 hour crib party! We still are doing 30 minute naps but this week I have noticed that he is trying to fall back asleep at that point. If he finds his paci he has fallen back a sleep for 45-1hr a couple times this week! I am hoping we are turning a corner! Good luck with the increase of A times this weekend! Keep us posted!

That's awesome katie! Glad things are looking up for you! I hope your success continues :)

We're not having to much success here ourselves with a 3 hour A time  ::) WE is so whiney the list 30mins he's awake And by the end of the day is just done! so today when he started yawning/rubbing his eyes after just 2h15m i put him down. still got a 30 min nap but he was happier. and now here's the confusing part: he refused his 2nd nap till 4hrs A time, and has now been asleep longer than 1.5hrs! So... where do i go from here?!

mmm I wonder if this is his natural rhythm, short first A then short nap. Because the first A is short he isn't OT after the short sleep. Then longer A and longer nap. I am surprised he did so well on 4 hours A...this could be OT catch up nap so keep an eye out here. I would think usually after a short morning A and nap that a 3 hour A is more appropriate, followed by a long nap (2hours) and a 4 hour A to bed. If you go down this path you are really following a 2-3-4 A

Some LOs thrive on this...for others (like me) we get awful EW!

I think seeing as your day is different from usual, you may need to watch him closely for cues and PD for BT quickly when you see them. Around this age Z prefered a long middle A, this was weird but it worked! So it could be your LO is similar, and if so he may need BT around 3 hours A.

I think i've heard of the 2-3-4 pattern... is that generally for LO's of Dylan's.age?

I guess i'll try a similar pattern today, see how he does! We had three NW last night, i think due to the fact he's trying to crawl. hopefully he'll figure it out soon! Lol. but may be routine based... we'll see how things go today!

Yes, it is adjusted as they get older so the AM nap gets shorter and then dropped once they move to 1 nap. We had a messy patch around 7 months too with developmental stuff going on so it could just be this playing havoc!

My BFF's girls both did great on a 2-3-4 from about 5 months... though I think babies that do well on it will naturally move to it around the 8 month mark :)

i feel like his whole life thus far has been a rough patch, lol. love my boy but he is challenging!Sweetest thing ever though :)

Yesterday was ok but he was majority OT at bedtime. he had 2 1hr naps and then refused the catnap. so it was a long time to BT, and then he was up every 2hrs. too

So i guess we just might be moving towards that pattern then? It feels a bit messy ATM but i guess there is no rush, i don't think he is really ready for 4hrs A time yet but that carnal gets more and more difficult!

Ok, now we are just playing catchup all the time.... or so it seems. Dylan was up every hour last night and every two the night before that. So I've just made a point of following his cues for naps, which have been 30min to.1hr on.2.5 - 3hrs A. any way. it all feels so messy DH thinks he's teething (he got back yesterday! I'm not alone any more! Woo hoo!) So will try tylonol tonight. i know this isn't the right board, but any other suggestions?! So we can get back on working on our days routine?!

Forget the Tylenol, give him Advil.  It's much better for teething pain as it brings down the painful swelling.. it works faster (20 mins as opposed to 40) and lasts much longer (6 hrs as opposed to 3/4).

Agree with Kara, just make sure he doesnt have an empty tum. I usually feed Z when he is beside himself with teething pain in the middle of the night, give him the meds at the same time and by the time he has fed and had a cuddle they have kicked in :-*

Thanks Sara!  I totally forgot that part - I always gave A a small bottle (3 ozs) with the Advil to prevent an upset tummy... it worked two-fold - protected that tummy and helped her calm down and fall back to sleep...

I gave him advil last night... helped a little but still was up screaming every 1-3 hours :( and woke for the day crying which is unusual... he is chewing his fingers and rubbing his face a lot so we'll try one more night i guess :(

I'm exhausted!! And i gave it to him before eating so he'd wash it all down. hopefully that's good enough?

(HUGS) we are in the middle of teething too hun, it is a PITA! Luckily Z is only waking 1ce but it is a long one ::)

I think you just have to ride it out for now, go with your routine best you can but follow his cues too. If he is really in pain you can alternate the two meds, they need to be 3hours apart though and I would only do this for a few nights or if you see that tooth is really bulging/cutting :-*
