Well I don't know if this was a fluke or not, but Dylan has been sleeping almost an hour after doing W2S! We did a 2.5 hr A time this morning (after a 5am wakeup again ::)). He had a rough time going down so I thought for sure it would be a short nap.... hope this is actually working this time! (and that I didn't just jinx it!)

**update: he slept only 55mins, BUT woke happy, which hasn't happened in a while!

Great! :) I would try increasing that A  a touch then trying W2S again and you may find he is more tired and sleeps longer! :)

Ok! I'll give that a try tomorrow. we had success with our 2nd nap too so I'm feeling encouraged. well, he slept for 25mins, woke quite upset, i resettled him, and did W2S for the second part of the nap and he slept for another hr - woo! At least we are catching up on sleep, if nothing else :)

Hey! So we are having a devil of a time with DS's reflux, it is not well controlled ATM. BUT still having some success with W2S! Yesterday he had a 1hr nap and a 1hr20min nap (then he refused the CN  ::)). Todays first nap was short (40min), as it was in the car, but his 2nd nap just passed the 45 min mark (update: it was a 50 min nap  ::)). Which for my 30min napper is unheard of.

However, getting him down is getting hard as when I put him down he refluxes and cries, and he's so pitiful and frantic I've been nursing him before naps. Trying not to nurse him to sleep, and unlatching him and putting him down before he's fully out, but it doesn't work all of the time (and then he is more upset and frantic because he wants to finish his snack ::)). I just am frustrated because I don't want to undo all of our hard work. But I know he's uncomfortable so feel like we are at an impasse..

Have a dr's appointment tomorrow to help work things out. Guess I just want reassurance that we will be able to get back into a routine once this reflux business is dealt with better... its kinda bumming me out...

You will hun :-* Every time I have periods of reflux/teeth I worry, and once Z is well again after a day or two things go back to normal. Hang in there.

Does your LO use a dummy? Do you still elevate the cot? SOmetimes when Z was in a lot of pain and the reflux meds needed an increase I would give him pamol before naps and it would take the edge off if he refluxed during his naps. Sometimes it was enough to get past that 45min period of light sleep.

He refuses his dummy (likes to play with it though) and moves to much for us to prop him at night. he's been sleeping flat for two months now and has been ok with it until recently. i could try propping him up again but id probably have to put him down asleep. But no harm trying it again i guess...

thank you so much for your encouragement! I guess I just have to 'keep the faith' that everything will be OK :)

Hey Katie! Fingers crossed it keeps working :) Yesterday I actually had to wake him up from his CN! That has never happened.... How is Jude doing with his naps?

He is hit or miss. A few weeks ago I was getting consistent 1.15 naps but then we started teething the top two teeth. They both came in last weekend so I am hoping we will start to get back to our longer naps. We also had construction going on at our house so naps were awful! I tried W2S a few times when Jude was younger but haven't done it in awhile. Once he is sleeping I am scared to death to disturb him! :)

OK, thought you ladies would like an update. So we were having some success with W2S, about 80% of the time it would work... then we went on holidays and things got all messed up again (I'll admit we were napping on the go and staying up late a bit to much but hey, we had a great time!). Now we are home and I've been finding that as long as I make sure he has long enough A times he'll sleep at least 1hr20min in the morning and at least an hour in the afternoon. The other day he even slept for 2 whole hours, which of course may never happen again, but it was nice at the time.

And now that his reflux is better controlled he can go down independently again for sleeps, so yay!

Now we just have to figure out how to get him over the jetlag :P

SO... success!! well, most of the time any way :) Thank you ladies so so SO much for all your help. Hoping we have continuing success with days and that will translate to nights (he's waking ever 2hrs at the moment... but I know thats another topic for another board, lol).

Great news Heather!  Now to deal with the 2 hrly wake ups - that's not good at all!

It is less than ideal, lol. It all started when his reflux flared about a month and a half ago. Now I'm not sure if he's still not on the right dose or if it's become habit. He's also picked up a cold and is teething, so it's hard to tell. Not sure what to do about the NW at this point...

Success, more info please..what are your A time like?

His A times are usually 3hr15min for the first one (today 3hr20min), then 3hr30 to 3hr45 min for the second one, then 3hr 30 till bed. So within the 3hr15min to 3hr45min range. He's almost 9 months. I did W2S and then if that didn't work I did whatever I could to get him to go back down (including lying down and nursing him) and I think he got in the habit of sleeping longer. I had totally given up my fear of causing props... to me that was a better option than 30 min naps for ever and ever... and it worked for us!

It has been a long journey... hoping we can keep up with the good naps and improve our nights. Not sure where to start though :P

No worries hun!  I AP'd my way to longer naps.. .she got used to it and I still do it if I have to!  Teething is grounds for doing whatever works!

What does he do at the NW?  Is he wanting to play or clearly upset that he is awake?
