Won't stop to eat at a party
« on: August 22, 2011, 21:22:37 pm »
DD1 will hardly ever eat at a party, even if all the other kids are eating & it's food she likes. How can I change this?

Oscar still doesn't....always too busy having fun. He has been at SOOOO many parties, with sooooo much good food and he always refuses. I just take a doggy bag for him and feed him on the way home ;-)

If its a more formal party where everyone sits to eat together, then he will for as long as the others sit. But the buffet style parties, not a chance.

Emma on the other hand, despite the fact that she is spirited, loves her food and will socialise with a snack and a juice in her hand, at all times....she's a foody!

The essence of a childrens party is playing and having fun with peers.
You can take her share home were she can enjoy it at her ease.
The more you fuss about it the less she will change mode

We don't fuss, we just let her be & feed her at home. I was just wondering if there's a way to teach her that it's ok to sit & eat then play. Or if it's something she'll just grow out of.

My DS doesn't do well with party food either! I do get him to sit at the table while the others are eating, then let him go and play once others start getting up. He will usually nibble a few bites - with a bit of encouragement ::). My DD is also one who is quite happy to munch her way through a party!
