Top up and milk supply issues - now worried about snacking
« on: August 23, 2011, 15:17:26 pm »
I have been posting here as I have had to top up with forumula since day 1 but I have been doing a little feed before sleep which seems to be helping but today my little one has literally been feeding every 2 hours - getting tired and then falling asleep...

Can waiting for her to be really hungry help rather than feeding every 4 hours which I am trying to do?.

Sure.

6am - wake and feed
7am - sleep
8.30 - feed
10am - sleep (with top up)
12.30 - feed
2.00 - sleep (with top up)
6.00 - feed
7.30 - bed with top up
11.00 - feed and sleep
3am - feed

But today ...

6am - feed
7am - sleep
8.30 - feed
10am - nap in car .. After a top up and then woke at 10.30 had more top up and nap again in car
1pm - feed
2.30 - nap (with top up) but OT and didn't go down easily
3.30 - wake so I fed with formula at 4
4.30 - crashed out
7.30 - feed bedtime routine
9pm - sleep with top up

We plan to wake at 11 to feed and then fingers crossed!!

We actually woke at midnight and the. She went through to 6am.... Guess she wasn't really snacking?

Managed to extend her first morning nap slightly this morning by keeping an eye on her and sshh patting back to sleep so she fed again at 9am and has just gone down at 10.15 with a top up...

It sounds like your LO was just hungrier those days, doesn't it. Possibly a GS?
Midnight to 6am is brill!!! Bet you are happy.
Keep me posted how tonight goes.
