Removing Dreamfeed?
« on: August 25, 2011, 21:50:34 pm »
Hi there. I have a 7.5 month old baby boy and I'm still doing a dreamfeed at 10pm, which gets him through to 6-7am in the morning.

How do you know when it's time to start removing the dreamfeed, and how do you do so when breastfeeding (ie how do you increase the amount he's getting at that first feed in the morning?).

I started moving the dreamfeed back by half an hour, but it made Jacob start waking at 4.30 - 5am, so I'm assuming he isn't quite ready yet?! Solids are well established with him having breakfast, lunch and dinner after a breastfeed.

Thanks in advance!

We kept the dream feed until about 9mo!  A little later than Tracy recommended, but ebf babies tend to need more frequent feeds/night feeds for longer than the 'ideal' :)  I would say that if you moved the dreamfeed back and he started with ews that you can keep it for longer.  Wait a couple of weeks and then try moving it back again.  If it works, great!  if not you can wait a couple more ;)

Thanks! Was hoping to stop setting my alarm clock at 10pm... but looks like I'll have to keep it up a bit longer... lol!
