My 8 week old is taking 6 oz every three hours!

There is a huge range of "normal" for babies so yes - normal! With the sleep do you mean night sleep? If so, for an 8 week old that is also quite normal - exhausting but normal.

If you want, post your routine and we can have a look and see if it need any tweaks to help the night sleep.

E  630 took 5 oz
A  play for an hour
S  wind down 15 sleep from 745 to 930
E  930 took 6 oz
A  play morning wash etc
S 1015 to 1030 wind down slept until 1
E 1 pm took just over 5 oz
A on floor w his dad playing
S 215 to 250 wind down. 250 to 330 asleep. Car ride, nodding in and out
E 415 took 5.5 oz
A at the park
S 5-15 to 630 asleep

630 bath

E 715 took 6 oz
A changed, ray for bed

1030 woke on his own- 5 oz both

245 5 oz bottle
515 5 oz bottle

then I can't give him a full feed to start his day at 7... Help!

At this age sleeping through isn't really about calories, it's developmental and growth spurts are more or less back to back so they do need the calories.

You routine looks great! I would say though try not to let him sleep longer than 2 hours to keep the E to 3 hours and the last nap should be a short cat nap so not more than 45 mins so you can get them to bed. Try and get bedtime to be 12 hours from wake up time.

He did do a 4 hour stretch which is really good at this age. Have you tried cluster feeds in the evening to see if that helps? Tracy does sugges dropping the clusters at around 8 weeks but some babies need them for a bit longer. With the 5am ish feed you can either do a smaller feed to tide him over or a top up feed when you start the day to get him through the first A time.

Does he have a dummy/ paci at all?

May be a silly question but I don't know where the newborn club is! I'll find it!

We have had some 'progress' in that when we don't wake him for the dream feed, he doesn't wake. So in essence he goes from 5/630 to 11pm without feeding (although is not asleep that whole time). BUT is up like clockwork at 1130, 3 and 6.

IF I could switch out the 'skipped' 8pm feed for a 'skipped' 3 am feed I'd be loving life!

He is minimalist with his pacifier. He likes it as he is nodding off but is lazy and won't hold it in his own mouth. lol. He likes it if I have my thumb on it and my hand on his face. Little tinker that I'm ridiculously in love with!

we are the same here, its darn exhausting doing it every 3 hours day and night. I was just coming online to ask a very similar question however we arent doing 6 oz but 4 oz every three hours.
