Rice cereal...Constipated?
« on: September 01, 2011, 16:25:02 pm »
I've been feeding my 5 month old brown rice cereal for a week now.  I mix it with avacado and sometimes blueberries.
She loves it.
Im worried though that it's making her struggle to poop.  I see her pushing a lot, and then there's only a little bit in her diaper when she's done.  It's about the size of a quarter and it's harder than usual.

Does anyone else experience this?

rice is very constipating, so what you're experiencing isn't unusual.  You could try mixing it with something not so binding - like pears (or I'm told peaches as well) or prunes.

Prunes should work.  I actually skipped rice cereal all together with my 2nd since my 1st did so horrible on it.

For sure it's causing constipation :)

I mixed pears into my DD's rice cereal in the beginning :)

Barley cereal keeps things moving too!
