Bento Box Lunch Ideas?
« on: September 19, 2011, 17:59:04 pm »
Hi there,
My little girl is starting school tomorrow *gulp*. The school times are a bit later than I wish (from 10am to 1pm). She usually has lunch at 12 with her nap at 1:15pm. I think I'll have to shift her lunch to snack time (11am) and hope she eats well enough with a snack on the way home..

Anyone have any ideas for lunch? She has pasta, oatmeal, grilled cheese etc for lunch at home, but I think I may have to be creative for her to sit long enough to eat something. I've been looking at some bento box lunches. Really cool.

What do you guys send your toddlers to school with? :)

I often make Nathan a plate of assorted food for lunch. He has plates that are made up of 4 sections of different sizes, so I just pop a different food in each one. Here are some ideas for the sections:

- cut up fruit, berries, or grapes
- raisins
- cut up veggie sticks (cucumber is a fave around here)
- a dip (sour cream, yogurt, salad dressing, etc)
- chunks of cheese
- some kind of cracker (Wheat Thins Stixs are popular here, too)
- pieces of lunch meat, chicken, or sausage
- squares of toast
- pieces of plain pasta

I can't believe that she is off to school! Time flies...

A good IRL friend of mine just started this FB page... I'm fascinated with the bento box idea for lunches; don't know if I'd be able to commit to it myself when my kids are school age - but WHAT FUN!

thank you so much, ladies. Haven't gotten a chance to check the links and info..so incredibly tired lately to do anything :S

it was okay today. Made her a lady bug shaped sandwich. She's not a sandwich person. And she ate a piece of banana cauliflower bread I made her. :) Will need more ideas for the future so will be back :)

Great links!  Sarah we make Austin a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, some fruit, pieces of cheese, and they give them water there.  Not very exciting but he usually eats it so for now that's what we're doing!  I'm definitely going to check out these other sites for more ideas, though.

Yay for school!  I hope she loves it.  :)

I went to college with this woman who blogs about her twins' lunches.  She posts every day, so there's a ton of ideas.

Katie is super picky so I don't use it much, but keep meaning to look for more jdeas she might eat,
