NW's getting better but now horrendous EW?
« on: September 20, 2011, 15:15:34 pm »
I hope this is the right board to post on! DS (8 mos on the 24th) has reflux, and we've recently switched his meds, and his NW's have drastically improved. For instance, last night he was only up twice (12:30 and 3:30), which was amazing. But, for the past week or more, has been getting up progressively earlier and earlier. We've gone from 7:15 wake ups to 4:45am this morning (for the past two weeks he's been up before 6am)! And all the AP in the world doesn't get him back down again. And PU/PD isn't really an option because of his reflux.

A few other things about my bub: he's a chronic short napper. Has been since about 3 months. We get 30-40 minutes usually, and once in a blue moon will get a lovely 1hr - 1hr20 nap. But it's not consistent (we were working on that till a few weeks ago when he started waking up every 2hrs at night to scream). He has no props. Sometimes takes a paci, sometimes not. He goes down independently for the majority of sleeps, naps and BT.

A 'typical' day (things never stay the same, do they?) these days looks like this:

Wake: 5:30am (although today at 4:45am... not sure what the rest of the day is gonna look like)
A: 5:30 - 8:30
S: 8:30 - 9
A: 9 - 11:30
S: 11:30 - 12:00
A: 12:00 - 2:00
S: 2:00 - 2:30
A: 2:30 - 4:30
S: 4:30 - 5:00
A: 5:00 - 7:00
BT: 7:00

We've gone from 3 naps back to 4! I feel like we are back tracking... any way, do you think the EW's have to do with the short naps? Or is it a separate issue? We are all exhausted! I feel like DS is so overtired, but I can't even AP longer naps any more to try and catch up...

Thanks for your help everyone!

Worth a try! He ended up with a long first A time today as he was up at 5:15am and we had swimming lessons at 8am so he was up till 9. Any way, so far he's been asleep for almost an hour! Combination of being tired from swimming and the long A time i'm sure.

He just got both bottom teeth and it looks like the tops are coming in too. So maybe that's contributing to the EW?

He went to bed a 6 last night but he could have gone down earlier! I'll do an early BT tonight too, I just hope it doesn't become habit!

Things aren't getting any better :(

Had our earliest start so far this morning at 4:40am. And yesterday our first A time was (3hr30min)! We are also starting to get longer naps now (from 1hr to 1hr30min). I'm starting to feel discouraged...

We are having issues with reflux so I would guess thats part of the problem (working on adjusting his meds ATM). And it is kind of a good thing, as we are going to visit DH's family and they are 3hours ahead, so if he stays on the same schedule he'll be going down at 8pm and up at 8am their time... it's just when we get home again we will be back to 5pm to 5am sleeps :P

Are EW ever UT? Or is that just NW after 12am? We did also get a long NW the other night from 1:30 to 2:30, which I guess was UT.

When we get home in mid october we'll move to trying W2S, that works well for him for naps these days, so hopefully would work at night too.

Blah... I guess this post is mostly a vent :) oh and now we are up from our nap! mommy duty starts again :)
