In the UK the advice is yes as long as they're fully cooked but do keep an eye out for allergic reactions; it's a common one.  Some countries recommend later for that reason but I've heard that egg allergy is one they often grow out of.

L's doc said cooked yolk after 6 months.  Then we got the go ahead for cooked egg whites at 9 months because she was doing fine with her other solids and didn't have any reactions :)

LOL!  I constantly have to look things up and can hardly remember it from when I had M but yet at the time I knew solid introduction in minute detail.   Too much info for mummies to remember and keep up with I think xx

Exactly! Plus I keep reading about everyone elses intolerances and allergy problems - forgetting that there is no history of anything like that in my family or DH's either....  ::)

For advice from UK health care, there's a list on foods to avoid when weaning:

http://www.nhs.uk/Planners/birthtofive/Pages/Foodstoavoid.aspx

The jury is out on whether it helps or hinders to introduce allergenic foods early.  They used to recommend no nuts till age 3-5 I think, especially for kids with eczema but my HV recently recommended to go ahead with my son who's 16 months old.  There's currently some research going on about introducing allergenic foods earlier after I think a Swedish study found an increase in nut allergy associated with leaving it much later to introduce nuts.  All that said, I'd still stick to introducing allergenic foods post 6 months; at least until the results of the study are published but there does seem to be a general easing up of advice.

I agree with Lemonthyme... I hold off on things that are known to be allergenic or anything that has a reputation on my DH's side of the family (no allergies on mine at all!)

Egg white are allergenic and are usually recommended for 12 months + in Canada :)
