In my experience, UT results in long night wakings (my LOs can be about 1.5hrs) and OT wakings seem to be frequent but short and restless.

Sounds more OT to me too. How old is she? And what sort of routine is she on?

A is 16 months, he doesnt normally sleep more than 1hr 45 most days.
Our routine yesterday:

6:40 awake
7:10 b/fast and milk
9:00 snack
11:15 lunch
12:05 sleep (1hr 40)
14:45 snack
17:30 dinner
19:15 b/feed and bed

NW'S 11:30 quick to settle
2:30 quick to settle
awake at 5:30 this morning

Hmmm, if his routine hasn't changed then I can't see why he'd be OT.

Any other factors - teeth maybe?

he has been on this routine for awhile i thought maybe he was UT and thats what was causing NW'S, he doesnt STTN very often though ::) his 1st molar just broke through a few days ago but he seems very tired and upset round 4 even just waking up at 2ish.

we live in 1 bedroom house (we are moving in two wks) and whenever A wakes up during the night i bring him in beside us but he still seem very unsettled. last night though i settled him in his cot. do you think these things are causing him to wake?

I have found teeth can make LO's want/need more sleep. Over the last few weeks DS has been cutting his 2 yr molars and instead of them interupting sleep he is sleeping better than ever and needing longer naps etc.

I assume he's waking naturally from his nap? You're not waking him at that time?

I suspect the NW's are more down to the teeth than anything else, but if he seems OT then how about an early night?

i think there might be something else, yesterday when we were coming home he started screaming in the car. we thought he had nappy rash cos he looked uncomy. i checked his nappy nothing there at all 5 mins later he had an upset stomach.

last night he slept til 4:30 ;D he finally was all settled to go back to sleep, and when i got back into bed DH woke thought there was somehthing wrong so A wouldnt go back to sleep ::) it took us an hr or so. i woke at 8:10 this morning and he still sound, he wont be ab ::)le to have a sleep today as there are people coming to view the house. i was thinking of b/time 6:30 what do you think?

Sorry I didn't get back to you last night.

Aw, he doesn't sounds too well :( Glad he slept fairly well last night though. But yes, definitely get that BT as early as poss tonight. 6.30pm latest I'd say (I know much earlier is never easy - it isn't in our house anyway! ;) ). At least he had a lie in this morning - what time did he wake in the end?

It sounds like he needs the sleep to me, so I'd let him have a good 2 hours at least, if he will do of course. I think BT needs to be dependant upon how long he naps for and how tired you think he is. If he doesn't nap for long I'd stick with an early BT. You may need to do an early BT even if he does a long nap - judge by his tired signs.
