Is this a good way to wean 9mo nightfeed...incorporating W2S?
« on: September 30, 2011, 18:13:32 pm »
so i was doing a little research on how to gently wean my now 9mo from waking at 4:30am for a 6oz bottle.  we tried and were basically there (with lots of crying, ugh) and then he got croup 2 weeks ago so we are back to the waking/feeding.

someone suggested waking your LO 1 hour earlier (so in my case at 3:30am) and feeding them 1-2oz less.  the theory is that 1) you break the habitual waking, and 2) you move those lost oz to the morning.  i am desperate to break this wakeup - it used to range from 3:30-5am but now it is like 4:25 on the dot so it is habitual...plus he is 9mo so i am ready!  what do you think of this plan?

i was going to add a small 4oz "snack" bottle in the daytime to makeup for the lost oz at night.  we are on 4 bottles total including the 4:30am one so he is not yet ready for only 3 bottles (he is a HUGE baby).

thx for the input!!

Your LO is FF?  How are solids?

I would just wean the feed all together, rather than introducing another feed.  I think if you are going to do PU/PD, set your mind to it and don't give up.

What is your routine like though.  Can you post it in EAS format?
