I confess that we are skipping the cat nap more and more often these days - it is so much effort at a time of day that is really busy anyway, and I rarely actually end up with a decent nap anyway. It's hard to tell how he is coping though - we have had a couple of nights with really good stretches, but most nights are spoiled at some point by him not going back to sleep or waking up an extra tme or something.

My DD has a switch ;)  It was magically flipped around 6 months and she started taking 2 hour naps twice a day ;)

I like to hear that Kara :)
Well after a short first nap, Avery took a nice long hour & 45 minute nap on her own! But she was up at 1:15 so a 3rd nap is a must to get to BT. I'm thinking about APing it in the car so I can guarantee it because DH is away on business until Friday and I need to make doing BT for both girls as easy as possible for myself :)

Nope, we are in the 2-1 and I need the darn thing again... it seems to be defective again ;)

Dana - do what you have to do!

How's everyone doing? Yesterday we had all short naps, the first being the longest (50 mins), half in the park & half in the car. I was hoping for a good 2nd nap in the crib but that one was really short, just 40 mins (maybe less?!?) so the CN was needed. She was asleep by 7ish & slept until 4:15! But she was hard to settle from 4:45-6 (unlike her???) and of course DD1 was calling for me at 6:20 to use the bathroom!!! So basically I've been up since 4:15 :) Avery slept in until I woke her at 8:15 so I could BF her before Riley's school run. Magically, my mom put her down at 10:30 & she slept until 12:30! Magical grandma dust ;) actually my mom is very good at reading her & got her A time perfect while I was out for a run. I'm only planning on one more nap for Avery today, even if it's a short one. We'll see....

We had possibly the worst night I have had with any of them last night with x!  Today has pretty much been damage limitation. Still no sign of longer naps, but I'm not sure if I really expect it to happen as I just don't have the chance to watch his signs and arrange the day around him. Gtg - he's crying now which does not bode well for the night.

Ugh sorry to hear that! I had a lot of rough nights with Avery at 4 months. I was exhausted, confused, desperate! A good friend surprised me with a cup of coffee after a really bad night & I was crying and hugging her! Over coffee! I hope you have a better night tonight xo

Well Avery is 6 months today! We are getting there, nights are consistent 12-13 hours or so with 1 NF & naps are improving but not quite consistent yet. Some days, she'll manage a long nap (1.5 or more) somewhere in there & others (today!) 3 short ones (40-45 mins). I see the light at the end of the tunnel *I think* and if look back to my posts in August, I never thought we'd get here. How's everyone else hanging in there?

Dana - if you are getting 12-13 hour nights, you have won the battle :)  I always have said I can deal with crap sleep during the day if baby sleeps well at night :)

That's fabulous!  I've got 3-4 shortish naps most days, sometimes one longer (never as much as two hours but often longer than 1) and a few shorter.  DF and a NF most nights too.  At least he's happy and snuggly when he's awake, which is an improvement over his newborn stage when he just screamed at me.  Glad to hear that Avery's getting there!

You know when you write that something is good & hit post, you immediately think "I just jinxed that"?? That's what I did last night & of course we had a completely off night! The problem was that Avery kept rolling to her belly & getting stuck there. She's been rolling back to belly for weeks so I don't know why she chose last night to practice. She did it a number of times at BT, 11:15 (DH settled), 1:15 (I fed her), 5:30 (DH settled) and then up at 7:30. I *think* at one point she was sleeping on her stomach but I'm not sure if I saw or or dreamed it ;)

LOL!  Alexandra had a few tough nights when she learned to roll back to tummy too.. then she realized that tummy sleeping is awesome ;)
