My DS is very picky about meat too - will only do cocktail franks (I buy all natural, no-nitrate all beef ones), meatballs (homemade and I add all kinds of good stuff to them) and bolognese sauce. Occasionally a chicken finger (homemade) but rarely.

Will your DS do a bolognese sauce? I make mine either over pinwheel pasta (cause DS loves them and the meat gets caught in the spokes of the wheels and more is eaten that way LOL) or whole wheat penne. Also, for a time my DS was off meatballs but then I realized (1) he likes them dry - so instead of finishing his in sauce I finish his in the oven after browning and (2) he likes them a bit sweeter so I know either make Swedish meatballs or the Sneaky Chef sweet and sassy meatball recipe.

Does he do sandwiches? Mine doesn't (other than grilled cheese) but if yours will you can do a turkey and cheese sandwich - maybe pressed to make it melty and stick together. Or quesadilla with chicken or turkey inside?

I have found that mixing it up with meat works so trying different recipes or sometimes very simple things.  At the weekend at my sister's house he had some barbecued lamb (marinaded in chilli!) and some cold roast chicken, neither of which I would have made for him but he loved them both!

Things which are going down well at home at the moment are:

Agree with pps on the bolognese! My DS was eating meatballs, bits of steak, chicken (in something other than nugget form) before he turned 1 and then after that it all went downhill ::).  He has been eating meatball here and there, but never a lot and never consistently.  So last night I ground it up in the tomato sauce and he ate it! I am going to gradually make it chunkier and see what he does.  I used rigatoni and that worked well too for getting the sauce inside of the pasta.  I may eventually try to "stuff" them with a meatier sauce.

I also like Karen's suggestion about the sandwiches.  I haven't tried meat, but I've been able to get DS to eat things he otherwise won't eat on its own, so something like turkey should be no different.  I'll probably try that too.  DS likes an avocado and cream cheese sandwich, so maybe sticking a slice of turkey in that might work. I"ll let you know :).  As Karen mentioned though, pressing tightly together is key. :)

Lemonthyme - my DS seems to always try new things at other people's houses.  Unreal!

(((Hugs))), Becky - it is so frustrating!

I know and the quesadillas idea is a good one.  I used to make a baby chilli for my son but he went off it.  If I reheated it and put it in a quesadilla though, he would chomp it down!  I happen to agree with him though, it was very tasty!
