feeling very discouraged!! (and exhausted!!!!!)
« on: October 05, 2011, 15:16:15 pm »
My DD used to sleep from 11pm-5am, sometimes even 7am - but she was in my bed. I started BW 3 night ago and started putting her in a crib. Now she wakes at 3 and 5 (roughly). Last night she woke at 130 but went back to sleep herself after fussy for 10/15 minutes. When she got up at 3 I realized her diaper had leaked. This lack of sleep plus the stress of hearing cry is really getting to me!!!!! I know she is happier during the day napping for long periods etc. but I miss my 5 hour stretch of sleep...... I need some encouragement :( How long will she keep NW so much??? It's so hard to only get 2 hours of sleep at a time :(

If she sleeps later then 730 (her morning wake up time) should I wake her? Or just let her wake on her own? What about for naps? Then the whole 3 hour routine gets thrown off?

(I know this isn't a sleeping question exactly..) How many ounces of EBM should she be drinking at DF 9pm and 11pm? Could that make a difference in her nw? (See it's related to sleep :P)

Thank you in advance!!!

(((HUGS))) How old is your LO?

What is your routine like during the day?  Can you post it in EAS format?

Well I think she might be going through a growth spurt. Last night she REALLY wanted to nurse every hour (no napping really possible - just screaming!) But she fell asleep in the swing for like 40 when I decided to stick her in there for a breather. Then before BT she wouldn't go down again so I gave her two ounces of EBM and she fell right asleep. She's 11 weeks but she had nursing problems until about a month ago and she didn't go through any other growth spurts so I am not sure. I just started BW and she has been over sleep alot of her naps. Or waking up in the morning at a reasonable time (630-730) then nursing (properly not a half asleep business) and falling back to sleep. So yesterday I tried to keep the schedule and it was a DISASTER. She was miserable and wouldn't nap. So I think today I am going to try to let her lead the way a bit more. I am not sure how much emphasis should one put on their BW routine? We are still in the beginning, trying to figure everything out. The first day I started she kept the 3 hr schedule from 730am-8pm pretty easily, I think I woke her from her am nap to keep the schedule.
Yesterday her schedule was:
E (and wake) 630
S 650-840 (I woke her - big mistake I think!)
E 840-900
A 900-1000 I dont remember exactly (she seems to get tired even after 45 min of awake time which is very little for her age I think?)
S 1000-1pm (I woke her at this point - she hadn't eat in so long but maybe this was also a mistake)
E 1-120
A 120 - 230 (I ran to the store for groceries but I think she got OT)
S would NOT go down; I gave up after 30 min because my nerves couldn't take it anymore
then she just ate frequently and was fussing until she fell asleep in the swing for a bit but I don't remember exactly when.
I fed her around 8 and did the BT routine but she wouldn't go down, finally I gave her a bottle with EBM at 840 and she fell asleep around 9.
E 1030 DF (I didn't do two because she had eat so close to 9pm)
E 340am (She ate, pulled off wouldnt go down, ate some more, pulled off wouldnt go down then burped, ate some more and then fell asleep)
E 720am
S 740-820
E 820-840
And now its about 11 and I have a dr appt so hopefully she'll fall asleep in the car or something!!!!
I would LOVE to hear any thoughts you have.. THANK YOU! I am a new mama and am rather stressed out right now :S

How old is your LO?

EASY is about following your LOs cues.  So if your LO needs to eat, sleep, etc., of course you should let her guide.  A times and eat times can vary, especially in the beginning and especially with a EBF lo.

When your LO finally fell asleep in the swing, what time was that?  How long did she sleep for?
