i've just done the switch to cows milk (1 year old LO) and she hasn't made a poo all day!! Normally she has at least 3/4 per day. is this normal?

Some babies/ toddlers do get a bit constipated when you switch to cows milk. Offer extra water and laxative foods and if it's still a problem in a few days you could go back to the milk she was having before until things go back to normal and then switch gradually.

This happened us too when we switched so I went back to formula. He went 4 days without going and I was getting quite nervous about that! He's only drinking one bottle now at night time so I never bothered trying the cow's milk again, I didn't see any harm in him having one bottle of formula a day. It has extra vitamins and iron in it so I just left it. That's probably not any help though.

Thanks Lullaby, I gave her loads of raisins and fruit and she had 2 BIG poos today :-)
I saw on another site that suggested what you did (go back to formula if the constipation continues). Hopefully she'll be ok now!

My son's digestion seems to be predictable and then just for no reason, he will have a day where no poo comes out!  It could just be coincidence rather than being a problem.  I give my son more fruit and vegetables than the nursery do and I've noticed he will poo far more often when he's at home for a few days and the poos are softer so if it does become a problem, just up the fruit and veg!
Here's my blog which is focussed on simple food for babies, toddlers and families http://mamacook.blogspot.com/
