Feel free to move this somewhere. I'm panicking and just needed a place to go.
I left it open and they were clicking away. When I got to it, there were a bunch of let's say 'naughty' sites that are never visited up on my screen. They can't tell me what they clicked on, and I don't know what to do :'(

I've done a system restore in safe mode and it's still happening. I'm on the internet and all of a sudden I get new windows popping up of 'naughty' sights. Then if I do a google search, it completes the search but all of the links take me to the yellow pages to my current city. My favourites still work.  The other day I posted that I typed the word 'money' and it linked to a work from home site. I didn't think it was on my end but now I'm fairly certain it was.

Virus scan shows nothing.

Please help. I'm not that techy savvy so please use simple terms and help me get my computer back online.

TIA

Vicki

I'm not computer savvy either, but have you tried using Malwarebytes?  You might have to download it to a thumbdrive and then upload it onto your computer to get it to work.

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

That;s an anti-virus/anti-spyware program; but if the girls messed with your internet settings or a firewall or something, I doubt it will help.

Hopefully someone else much more computer savvy than me comes along.

A flashdrive...um, one of these things (better than me trying too much to describe :)):
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer-Flash-Drive-SDCZ36-008G-A11/dp/B001T9CTRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318128261&sr=8-1

It replaced floppy disks, so you can store your info on there and take it around from computer to computer (as opposed to some other drives which remain in your computer, like a C: drive).

I would start with running Ccleaner
then your virus scan
then a ad aware scan
Ccleaner and ad-aware can be downloaded from filehippo.com for free.
I would do all scans in safe mode as well, if you do have problems downloading anything put computer in safe mode with internet access and try that way.
Usually all scans take hours, if your virus scan or ad-aware cannot remove a program, write down the name and pm me, I can proubly help you pull it out manually.
And yes I use to do this for a living :)

Lily, is there then something she can do to keep the lil' darlings from doing it again?  Parental controls of some sort?  My Sys Admin is currently snoring.  (and it's raining...)

Thanks Lily

I've put the screensaver settings to prompt for my password and when I can get on, I'm going to set the screensaver to come on after one minute. A bit of a PITA, but this is a much bigger PITA ::)

Where would I be without a smartphone and especially BW?

Ok, I'm hitting F8 to go to safe mode but after I select it, it boots up like normal. Then I can't even bring up IE :(

Is there another way I can put it in safe mode?
