hi,
so i have a 17.5 month old at home and #2 due in two weeks and my daughter who recently went from 2 naps to 1 has been sleeping really well until last week!  im hoping we can rectify this before #2 arrives.  Pls help (like you always do)!

So this has been her routine the past week or so.

bedtime: 7:30pm
EW: 5:00 ish (i try to put her back to sleep, but she refuses)
sleep: 10:30-12:30 (it used to be 11:30 when there werent any EW's).

Is she OT or UT?  Im not sure.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there :)

What was her wake up time before the EWs started? How long ago did she go from 2 naps to 1?

If BT has always been 7.30pm (even before the EWs) then I would suggest she's OT and needs BT bought forward. With the EW and earlier nap she's got a long day.

thanks catherine,
her wake up time before the EW was about 7pm.
what time would you suggest i put her to bed at night?
Should i move her nap a little earlier? (ie 9:30)?

Is she going down ok for her nap at 10.30am? If she is, and she doesn't seem too OT before it, then I'd say leave it as it is.

Perhaps aim for an early BT of 6.30pm. When my DS is OT an early BT really helps and often leads to a later wake up time too. This isn't always the case though, with some LO's it never works, but is worth a try.

oh, and forgot to answer your question about 2:1 nap.  she dropped her second nap about 1.5 months ago.  so perhaps OT is kicking in?

i ended up putting her to bed at 6:40 last night, as opposed to 7:30ish and instead of waking up at 5am, she woke up at 6!  woohoo.  lets home for the same tonight

Hi there.  IIWM I would try & push out that nap a little.  Maybe put down 15mins later at 10.45am & keep it like that for a week & see how she fares.  Then maybe push out to 11am.  I think if the nap starts a bit later you might find she stops EWing & things settle down.  Just a thought.HTH.x
