Need help with 9 month old! Long am nap & short pm nap
« on: October 21, 2011, 22:29:46 pm »
My LO has been doing a long am nap and a short pm now for a couple of months now and it has never bothered me but not she has started to really extend that am nap to 2.5 hours!! She takes a pm cat nap of 30 minutes and cannot really last until bedtime and gets really really grizzly in the evenings before bedtime which is a nightmare!

Her EASY today was as follows:
Wake and BF at 7:30
E Breakfast at 8:30
A
S 10:15 nap
   Woke from nap at 12:45
E Lunch at 13:00
A
S 15:30 nap
   Woke from nap at 16:15
E Dinner at 17:00
A
S Put to bed at 19:30 but didn't fall asleep until 20:00

Sleeps till morning - wakes up for her dummy at 2am and 5am

Do I need to cap her am nap to get her last longer without going mad before bedtime or just leave things as they are? I've been reading lots about the 2-1 transition and this might apply to us but I think my LO is too young for this and she won't last till the afternoon without a nap.

If it's working and you're happy with it then I'd roll with it for now.  When she starts to refuse the pm nap then you'll want to start cutting the am nap back to ensure the second nap is taken.
