From looking at your 2 EASYs it looks like after a 45 min nap your LO can do just over a 2 he A time to get a longer ap. yes he woke at 35 mins but resettling for anther few hrs of sleep is wonderful. Your prev EASY has a 3 hr A after 45 min nap and you got another short one.

Your EASY looks good, is your LO coping well with feeds being spread out a BT? He should feed more at each feed hopefully. If you need to feed before a nap just do so before a nappy change or something so you are not feeding to sleep. If yu are planning on starting your day usually at 7 or 8am. Wouldn't let him seep in more than say an hour up you think it will mess up your day.

Tay, I think this started around 14/15 weeks - does this seem late for reflux to start?
I'm not sure tbh, but I think it is a bit late for it to start, I would imagine you would have had other signs before then if it was reflux.
I would definately focus on the routine tweaking and the 3.5/4hr EASY to see if it makes any difference.
xx

Weird, that shows me as quoting. I would think that if he had reflux he would have had it since 6 weeks or so or earlier. But he may have always had it but it not been so noticeable IYKWIM. Was he colicky when young?

Well, he's continuing to do a 45 min nap in the morning, usually because we are out at that time and he is in his carseat. Then awake for 2 hours and a 2 hour nap, which he resettles himself after about 45 mins in! Then 2 nights ago we did pu/pd again, and only did it 2 times and he slept until 7.40, and last night he didn't need pu/pd! He resettled himself each time and slept until 5.45, I fed him, then back to sleep until 7.45. We are ecstatic!! Hopefully we can carry on with this and extend his morning nap and then hopefully he will wake a little later in the morning.
We are trying to maintain the 4 hour routine :)
Thank you soooo much for all of your advice, just having another pair (or two) of eyes on this has really helped. He wasn't colicky when younger so I'm thinking he was just so fussy recently because we had messed up his schedule so much. The last couple of days he has really started drooling, so I'm guessing more teeth are on there way, I hope it doesn't change anything now that we are finally seeing some progress!

IMO this is okay, some babies do well with a shorter AM nap and a long PM. It also may make it easier for the 2-1 later on down the track.

I never get a nap longer than 45mins in the car, a lot of LOs will only nap this long in a car seat so if you are okay with it and need to be out then go with it. I think because you are PD for his PM nap after 2 hours you are preventing her from getting too OT. That 45min resettle could be a touch UT, you could try extending it to 2hr15mins and see if it gives you a more solid nap.

Teeth will probably mess up sleep and mood if he isn't a good teether. A lot of babies need more sleep when teething so if he seems more tired earlier or naps a little longer (or wakes mid nap crying) don't panic, its just the teeth wrecking havoc :P

Great work :-*

So, a few days on, he's starting to wake up super early - today it was 4.45am...and he didn't go back to sleep for an hour and a half. Then I couldn't get him to take a morning nap, so he was awake from 8.30 until 1.30, sleep until 4, then bed at 7. I feel like it is too early to give up his morning nap? He was definitely cranky in the morning. Any thoughts?

How is your EASY looking ATM can you post with EAS times and any NW? You are right it is too early to give up his morning nap.

What is he like when he does the EW? - Happy? Crying?

Okay I 'think' your problem may be where mine was when we had EW. You first nap is too early, and your next one is too late. This causes an UT/OT loop and EW.

I would push that AM nap to 8am to start with, aiming for 9am. He Is tacking on his night sleep onto that nap IYKWIM. I would offer his PM ap no later than 4 hour A after AM nap WU. He look pretty OT with those NW.

(hugs)

OK, I guess I was counting the first sleep as still night time, but you think I should just get him up when he wakes early? So maybe a 2-3hr A time, then a 4 hr A time, then maybe another 3 hr A time?
He took 2x 1.5 hr naps today, so I'm hoping its a good sign for tonight!

If you were to count that as night and treat that waking as a NW that is fine too. But then your nap is too late in the day. A 6 hour A time is longer than my LO has and he has just switched to 1 nap pretty early. I would go for a good 3hr A time after he gets up for the day.

What were his A times with his 2 X 1.5 hours naps...that sounds perfect! :)

Hmmm that PM nap, did you wake or did he? And did he wake happy or crying.

I think you need the day to be more balanced ie
WU 7
A 3hrs
Nap 10 for 1-2 hrs
A 3 hours
Nap ~2.30 for 1-2 hrs
A 3.5 hours
BT ~7.30 pm

I just did this on a 7am WU but you know what I mean. Some LOs prefer a long first A, others a long middle so you can do what works. I do think that your LO is OT by the end of the day though, ESP if he has a short nap then long A to bed. After a short nap I would reduce. The next A by 15-20 mins.

What do you think?
