Well funnily enough so far today He W/U at 7.10, nap at 10 for 1.5 hrs, we are now trying to push through to 2.30 for the next nap, so hopefully we can get on that schedule, it looks good. His wake times have been throwing us off a lot so I think I'm just going to have to get up at 7 ish every day and wake him.
His pm nap yesterday, he woke by himself (though my other LO was making a bit of noise, so may have been that) and he was crying when he woke.

Oh, and if he sleeps at2.30, but goes for 2 hours, should I still plan for 7.30 bed or push to 8?

Thank you!!!

I would play it by ear, if you think he needs BT at 7 go for it, but if you think he looks like he could go a bit longer maybe aim for 7.45 and you can always speed up or slow down Wd or the bath if need be :) Great day so far! :)

Zacsmumme! Just an update, he is now taking 2 reasonable naps of 1-2 hours each day, but nightimes....he wakes up about an hour or two after going down, and we roll him on his tummy then sleeps another 2 or 3 hours and then up/pd for at least an hour somtetimes 2. Then back to sleep for about 2 or 3 hours then waking around 4am for feed, then sleep until 7 or8am....is this the teething.?? I've been doing 3 hour Atime unless he takes a short nap, then we change it to 2/ 2.5.
Help!

Are you only feeding at the 4am NW or other times too? Is he going down for naps at BT independently or BF/rocked APOPed to sleep?

Naps look great :-*

Well, there have been a couple of nights where he was fed at the 12/1am waking, in desperation, after 2 hours...but mostly just the 4am. He goes for naps independently, but bedtime is BF first.

I am very happy about the naps!!

LOL I am an idiot ::) Sorry hun for some reason I thought this post was in naps tehehe. I have a sick 1yr old - can you tell?

Does he have a paci? Ill see if I can get some eyes on here for you as nights are not my strong point at this age. I do wonder if its related to the BF at NW and he is waking for the comfort but not sure :-\

Teehee, I thought it was my mummy brain! Sorry your LO is sick :( Hope they get better soon.

He does have a paci, and yes I am BF at the 4am wake, and then he usually co-sleeps the rest of the night then....My husband is trying to stop this but baby is strongly resisting!

At the NW are you going in straight away or holding back to see if he resettles himself? - Does he groan or cry out to you...

AND are you replugging that paci for him, or can he replug himself? - It seems that he needs you to help him get back to sleep when he stirs in the night. Every 2-3 hours is usually when they rouse throughout the night :-\

PU/PD doesn't work with a paci, unless your LO can replug and he finds it himself in the cot, because you are sometimes using that method, but not always he may be getting confused, esp if you then end up co-sleeping (as nice as it is :P ) . Does shh/pat work at all?

He usually still has the paci in when he starts crying :/ Shhh/pat has worked for me before, but my husband usually has better luck with pu/pd. We do leave him to see if he'll resettle.
I think tonight I'm going to try shortening the 4am feed (he feeds well at it) to see if I can cut it down to the point where he doesn't wake for it. And of course put him back in the cot, though you're right, I love co-sleeping :(
Last night he woke up once around 12.30, and we rolled him on his tummy, and he slept through to 4.45, then feed, then he was awake for 2 hrs...

And we have tried pu/pd at the 4am wake up, but he really screams!

Hi hun, I agree with Sara that you have become a prop and that is more than likely causing your DS NW. He wakes and feels like he needs you to either feed him or put him in bed with you. Who wouldn't wake up and want a nice snuggle with Mummy in a nice warm, cosy bed?! lol. ;) I think you need to try to wean these props if you are going to overcome the NW.

I would use shush/pat if it works for you and only PU if he is really upset and you can't calm him any other way. As Sara said PU/PD will be difficult if he can't replug his own paci. Have you tried putting lots of them all around his cot so he can find them easily and also loads of practise in the day at replugging it himself.

So maybe pick a night and decide that you are not going to feed before a certain point and that you will settle him with your chosen method in his own cot, then stick with it being consistent. How does that sound?

I will plan to try it from Friday night (my husband has a busy week), and I'm away Saturday night (sleep for me...) so I'm sure he will be happy to try it without me. Until then, should I start feeding and trying to put him back in the crib? The last 2 nights he has slept through until 4.45am, but then been wide awake for 2 hours, both in the crib or in our bed.
I will try the paci thing, though like I said he'd usually still has it in when he wakes up :/
