AP and the Cat Nap
« on: October 24, 2011, 20:16:14 pm »
Wondering about our cat nap situation...if we've had a good, textbook EASY day my 6mth old will fall asleep for the cat nap if I rock him but he won't if I let him do it on his own.

If he doesn't get the cat nap nights get even worse than they are.  Should I keep AP that last nap, or will this create more problems as we're trying to fix NW with pu/pd?  Anyone have advice?

Could you do errands at that time so he *happens* to fall asleep in the car / buggy?

I have a preschooler too, and she wants to stay and play.  Plus, when he's napping I get dinner made.  Would it be better to do it than way than to rock him?  When do they drop the cat nap?  I don't remember...

We never got the catnap to work tbh.  What about wearing him in a carrier until he drops off?

Tbh, we were APing a morning catnap till quite recently but my LO has never been the greatest napper.  Loads of people said not to rock them though but everything else (apart from feeding to sleep) you could get them out of fairly easily.  But then loads of people told me loads of rubbish about babies and sleep so it could all be completely useless!!!

That's a good idea about the carrier - I might try that later this week.  We are dealing with many night time issues, so I only want to change one thing at a time.  I think I'll leave the cat nap as is for now and once we get the night a bit more under control (we realize we created some props we're trying to fix) I'll deal with the cat nap.

Thanks!
