Thanks for the advice!  Sorry your naps are rubbish too.  Aidan woke happy too, which was a bit strange.
I am unsure what to do tomorrow.  I want to do the best thing to get him back on track for Monday.  I don't think I can ask her to keep him up if he is gonna be that miserable like he was today.

Me too!

He seems ok at the moment though which is making me more nervous about EBT.  Its 5.10pm, plan to have him down by 6.20.

Hey All,
Thank you for the advice on my lo's naps, we had no wake up and a 6:30 morning so really happy about that but tried the old 2,3,4 routine but lo only slept for 30 mins from 9:40 literally babbled in cot from 9-9:40 then tried at 1 again babbled for 10 mins and only slept for 45 mins what is going on!!! So bedtime tonight was at 6:10 as she was sooo tired hope we have a good night and wake up.
Should I try 3,3,4? Do you think lo wasn't tired at 2 hr so messed it all up?
Thanks
Sofie

I think you could be right Sophie, UT for the first nap.  What did her first A used to be?

Um about 2.5 3 hrs but prob more like 3 do you think it's worth just sticking to actual times instead like 10 and 2 matter what wake up time? Just trying to get my head round all avenues!

There a probably a few different things you could try, but the important thing is to choose one and stick to it.  I was always more of a fan of set naps like you suggest but each to their own.  What personality type is your LO?

Yes I know what you mean I do seem to chop and change my mind alot which is doing both of us no good! Lo is angel/ touchy if we are in a routine she is an angel baby and life is bliss but as soon as we fall off track or development changes things lo become very touchy difficult to predict and it all seems to spiral out if control! We had lo's first cold around 3 weeks ago then lo learnt how to bumshuffle and now is clearly going through a growth spurt ( 3 8/9 oz bottles 3 meals plus dessert and snacks!) we just seem to be calming down from all these factors but trying the old routine ( 9-9:45 and 1-2:30 bed at 6:30 is no longer happening and is making us both miserable! Lo's tried ques have gone haywire too used to be rubbing nose pulling ears great- now lo is doing this after 5 minutes of waking up after sleeping all night?!
Sorry I've just realised I'm going slightly off track...
Anyway I think set times have always worked for us before it's just the working out when that's the issue but from research 10 and 2 are fairly common at 10 months.

Hi Sofie - Like Gemma, I am a huge fan of set naps, especially in a time of nap transitioning.  It really does keep them more consistent day to day.

I would try the 10am nap and see how long she sleeps, then you may only need a CN to get through to bedtime.  Regardless, do the 10am nap for at least 4 days and see what happens with that morning nap.  If you get a good long nap of at least 90 minutes (preferably closer to 2 hours), then do the same A time as you did in the morning and then try for a CN.

Gemma - If you think OT is catching up with Aidan, I would use a couple of your days off to let him catch up.  An OT baby will not move to a new routine easily at all.  Then, once you think he is free of any cumulated OT, push back to one nap mid-day.  You could do this with EBT or with 2 nap days... just remember that a 2 nap day can really make it tough to get onto a new pattern... I actually found that DD did better with me just putting her down for her one nap 15-30 mins earlier on days that she was a little more tired... I still do that if she needs it, along with EBT.  Another thing that works is a car ride in the middle of baby's normal first A time... If Alexandra is getting OT, I will drive to a playgroup a bit further away to give her 10 mins in the car to get her to her normal nap time...

Melissa - EBT for sure :)  I find that 1hr - 1hr 20 is UT now and 1 hr 30 mins is OT.

We had a strange day yesterday - up at 630am and napping at 1140am... DH woke her at 215 to keep BT and she was shattered by 6pm :(  Must be tooth #6 making her extra sleepy.  She did sleep 11 hrs last night and went down at 1150am today (after a 610 wake up).  Went to playgroup and she stole 10 mins in the car at 930 :/  Still sleeping now at 140pm.

Thanks for that advice.  If EBT works well tonight and he sleeps til normal time in the morning (even though it was only about 40mins early!) then I will stick with 1 nap, but do it slightly earlier and then do EBT.  If it doesn't work well tonight then it will have to be 2 nap days.  I will let him catch up for a couple of days and see where that gets me.  Thanks Kara!
