Quick Question for DST tonight
« on: November 05, 2011, 17:59:51 pm »
I was hoping Alyssa would sleep in today but she woke up at 6:50am. I put her down for her nap at 12:20pm and she slept until 1:50pm. Just last week I was waking her up from her naps and now that I needed her to sleep more she doesn't. Sigh Anyhow, I am not sure if I should squeeze in a CN followed by a 9pm bt or do I just do her normal 7:45pm bt and hope for the best. If I do aim for a CN, what time?

I would put her to be just a little bit earlier tonight and over the next few days extend this until she is back to the "right" time ...

thanks. So, put her down at her usual time and just adjust over the next few days? I am hoping I can AP her back to sleep tomorrow morning.

That's what I would do - I have always started time changes in the morning.  Also keeping meals, snacks etc to the new clock time helps too.  I found that Murray usually adjusts well and I think it is because he knows after lunch he goes for a nap, etc so the routine is the same and helps his body clock adjust to the new time easily.

If you can't AP then the next few days may need slightly earlier nap/bedtime until you get to the right time. Hope that makes sense - my brain seems to have gone to sleep :p

Sabs - definitely DON'T do CN & a later BT.  Clocks changed in the UK last weekend & that is exactly what we did.  He was up at 6am, napped 11am-12.45pm & then we eventually got him down for a 15min nap at 5.45pm, BT at 8pm.  And what did we get the next day:  4.45am WU (new time).  He did less than 10hrs sleep & we've spent all week trying to get him back on track.  Ugh!!!  So definitely agree with PP's - do it gradually!!!

Agree with Claire, we did the same as here, late CN and late bedtime and it went so wrong.  We ended up with 5am WU's and only 10hr nights for 2 nights.  Still trying to get it sorted now.

We did a 30 minute late wakeup today to shift the schedule 30 min and then will do 30 minutes later tomorrow.  We can't do it too slowly since DD1 has to be up for school.  So far it is working but they want to go to bed too early.  Wishing everyone luck for a late wakeup tomorrow!

Great news she slept so long, but sooo typical that you were up early! That always happens to me too!
