Dont think I need to cluster feed my 4 week old
« on: November 10, 2011, 03:51:24 am »
My DS was born Oct 13th at 9lbs. Today we weighed him and he is 11lbs 10 oz. his normal eating day is usually( 4-5 oz each feed). 8am ,11am, 2pm, 5pm then we did a cluster at 7pm and when we tried at 9 again, he would only take a few oz and then not his dream feed so we cut out the 9 pm cluster. and he started taking the dream feed (we also tried with a earlier routine starting at 7 ish and he still would'nt take the dream feed) 2 days ago he woke at 6 and I feed him but then he did not really want his 8 am feed  and it threw his day off, so last night when he woke I shush patted him back to sleep and he went without feeding between 11 and 8 am.  Tonight we did a 8pm feed instead of the 7.  Basically we are cutting out cluster feeding about a month early. Is this ok? he is gaing weight like a champ so I dont see a problem with it but I wanted another opinion. Thank you  :)

I dont think its a problem, my boy never wanted a cluster feed either. I know in the book Tracy says that if you have to pick one of them to choose the cluster feed but I think its up to you really.

I didnt cluster feed OR dreamfeed in those early days, I just let him wake for a feed, but thats just me, others might have a different line of thought :)

I don't think it matters really - do what suits your LO. Clusters and the DF didn't work for my two, they wouldn't feed too close together and they wouldn't feed in their sleep ::) ;).
