Pantley Method for Eliminating NF?
« on: November 11, 2011, 01:11:14 am »
I was reading a success story on this forum where they talked about "how they weaned their 9 month old from Night Feeds"...
In the story, the mother used the "Pantley Method"...or basically, gradually cut back the amount of time that they fed their baby when they woke for a NF..until the baby just stopped waking because they weren't hungry.
The story was posted in 2005.
I was wondering if anybody (more recently) has tried this method. I am thinking about trying it with my 6 month old LO this week. I would love to have someone to share my experience with...the ups and downs...and even better if anyone else could offer encouragement stemming from personal experience. ;D

Here is Elizabeth Pantley's website:

Not sure how much info is on there for free but may be!

I weaned my DDs NFs at 9-10 months (except the 5.30am one!).  I did it by picking a time i wouldn't feed before and  resettling with out feeding.  Then every few days I added a half hour until we got to 5.30 but you can go right ahead to your normal wake up.

My concern I guess with the Pantley method was that my DD would never have stopped waking even if it was for a a few minutes of milk and I knew once i got to the point of 0 minutes that I was going to have to resettle her anyways.  So I thought it better to be more proactive.

How many night feeds is your LO taking? Are you BFing or FFIng?
