Are very frequent night wakings usually a result of OT or UT?

I'm pretty sure that one long night waking- happy chatting is UT. How old is your LO?

Hi there, usually long happy NW are UT and frequent crying NW are OT. However, all DC are different and some will also long NW and happily chat if OT too.

What do you think the problem is? Usually from how the day has gone gives you a clue, so did he short nap or have a longer than normal A time to make him OT? If not then you could be right and if he is UT you may need to push his A times a little. If you want to post your routine we can take a look? :)

This weekend he was going stretches of 2 hours, and having great naps.  For the past 2 days he was doing the 3,5 EASY.. his naps were good the first day, kind of choppy though.  His night was terrible with a long waking.  The following day, we did 3,5 again, I thought he was OT due to his bad night.  He reverted to 40 min napping with alot of sh-patting.  Last night he was awake for a total of 2,5 hours chatting away.  Today he woke at 6:30 am, I kept him up til 8:30 and he went down without a fuss.  I haven't yet hit the 40 minute.. so we'll see how that goes.  I think he's ready for the 4 hours, and I just didn't know it.  I'll repost at the end of the day.

Have you seen this link to help you to decide if he is ready to transition... http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=63161.0

Have you increased DS A times then recently? If so how much by and how quickly? If he was taking great naps on 2 hrs of A time then this sounds about the right amount to me. It does sound to me like he could be OT and this is causing the NW.
