Cat nap length when poorly..please help asap. x.
« on: November 24, 2011, 12:25:43 pm »
Hi Everyone,

DS had Hand Foot and Mouth Disease and he is NW and EW. Before that we went through SA with NW and EW so we're all exhausted. Today he only napped 1.10 and he fell asleep so early, I have to AP a cat nap. If he goes over around 3pm how long can I allow him to sleep with a 7pm BT in mind. I usually would allow 20 mins but he's so exhausted at the moment and of course very poorly. I don't want to do BT later because EBT is getting him around 1 hour extra sleep, but he won't make it from 11.05 through to a 6pm BT. I fear doing any earlier as our WU could be 4am instead of 5am and after 9 hrs  plus sleep it's proving extremely hard to get him to go back over.

Thanks in advance.x.

Vicki.x.

Personally I'd let him sleep.  Nothing is better for his immune system and ability to fight than sleep.  HFM is a nasty business, both F and I had it last March.  Ugh.  Sorry about your LO!

When illness hits our house routine pretty much goes out the window because he really needs sleep the most.

If you're really concerned about bedtime I'd let him have at least 45 mins, 1 sleep cycle.

Wendy thanks so much! 45 minutes is what I was thinking. TBH with all the NW I can't really see how a longer cat nap could make any difference  :(.  It really is a horrible nasty virus isn't it. I'm so anxious for him to get better.

Thanks Again.xxx.

Hi Again,

He woke himself at the 45 mark but was in an awful mood for the next 45..one of those 'Tell me what I want Mammy 'cuz I don't know' moods. Anyway BT PF was 6.55 asleep by approx 7.15. Looking back on his Diary the only night he slept through this wek was on the 1 other day he had a cat nap of 30 mins..so here's hoping.

Oh yeah, I know those moods lol

Well hopefully he'll get a good restorative night to help him heal - fx :)

If it's any consolation Finn only had it for 3 days before he was back to full form.  These kids do seem to recover quickly!
