We are on our second ight and everything is going well.  Hes settling with me in the doorway and has only woke 2 times in night and settles again with me in doorway.  I feel you are definatley right in how to go forward as he will settle for his daddy and let him leave room as long as he knows he is upstairs - dad will walk about and make noise however he wont settle for me doing this so this is my next aim.

Thanks so much for your replies it helps ALOT x

Glad that things are going well. I have often found that when I actually get my act together to tackle things they end up improving quite quickly - almost like they know I mean it this time!

Hi well im still at the point where im just outside his door.  My aim is to do as you say and use a mixture of gw and wiwo as he seems to let his dad do this but not me so his dada has beenk dealing with putting him to bed last two nights using gw and wiwo and ive been dealing with the NWs.

Honestly i was beginning to get a bit disheartened but last night he woke at 11.30pm caused a bit of fuss which his dad dealt with and then i heard him wake at 1.30am and 2.30am both times he settled himself to sleep :) then he woke at 5.10am screaming i did GW with him where i sat at his door thou he just screamed on and off for hours until eventually it was 7am and time to get up and ready for work so im not to sure how really i would rate that.

Another thing thats on my mind is that when he wakes between 5am and 6am he seems wide awake and ready to start his day and the GW seems to be making him worse at these times as he will just scream at me and i even had a paci threw at my head this morning while sitting there :(

How upset is he when he wakes at 5? Do you think that you could get away with not going in to him at all? Sometimes it is better not to let them see us! Alternatively, could you stand outside the door where he can't see you but he can hear you reassuring him so that he does know that you are there.

Hi thanks for writing back hes just gone to bed with almost no fuss with me using WIWO so i guess we are making progress :) i will give it a try tonight holding off as long as possible while letting him no im there.  Do you think W2S would work for his early morning wake?

I'm afraid I know nothing at all about w2s - I was always afraid to try it! I think there is a sticky on it somewhere, though.

It's great that he is doing better - I hope it continues for you.

That's fantastic!  Can he come and have a word with my ds! :P

And there's no need to thank me - you did all yourself.
