Hi Everyone,
We have had a hell of a time recently with our 22 month DS Sam. He has been in a fabulous routine for a year after initial sleep training with the usual teething/illness problems of course. 3 weeks ago approx he started to suffer from SA for the first time and he was screaming in despair. I used GW method (WI/WO has never worked for us unfortunately) and was outside the door when we seemed to take a big step backwards. It turned out that he has 'Hand Foot and Mouth Disease' and has suffered quite badly
. I hope that after a week he is now going to come out the other side but this morning he threw himself out of the cot and landed on his face
he has friction burns on his forehead and nose so it's not hard to figure out where he took the blow first. So my dilema is this. This is the 3rd time he has done this, all 3 times have been when he has been put in the cot to play whilst we run to the loo, not at night, he is in a gro bag at night, but that wouldn't stop him from using today's 'method'
.
So: I need to do GW once he is better. I am currently on the chair by the door, so intend to go outside the door again with it ajar untill he SS again. But we are of course now very anxious he could hurt himself worse next time he does 'a stunt'. His 'George Pig' toddler bed is all set up in the nursery, we bought it after the last fall. He loves it and will jump in as soon we go to play in the nursery. Initially I was going to leave his cot up incase the transition failed but now I'm thinking that would be mixed signals and the switch needs to be done so I should take it away.
I don't see the point in doing GW and getting him to SS then going through something similar (probably) all over again straight away with the BBB transition, so should I do both together as soon as he is well
This is an exhausted household right now
I could do without the next big challenge at the moment
.
Thanks in advance
