So the leap can happen that early and last through week 19? Yikes...

I have noticed some changes in LO. Two days ago he began reaching for and grasping his rattle off the floor. He has stopped being as vocal, which I attribute to him working on other skills. But I have been able to get some really good giggles out of him.

I have read this wonder week can be the worst one (or at least out of all the WWs that have happened previously).

Yup, Z hits all his mental dev leaps early, like the first day they usually start ::) ie if they say 14 weeks hewill be cranky and odd en a day before 14 weeks or so. Usually they come right by the 'wonder week' I think, ie by week 19 (due not actual) you should start to see changes and new things they can do or are trying to do. Amazing really, but oh so freaking annoying when they are in these leaps!

This was the worst WW for us, partially because Z was so little, at this age you can't really distract them or have them in a routine they know IyKWiM.

Really, 4-6 months can be pretty rough, things do start to get easier around 7 months so hang in there ladies :-*

Wow...I had never heard about the "wonder weeks", but this could really explain some of the things that have been going on with my LO.  The sudden night sleep problems, fussy, clingy, etc...all there and he's 18 1/2 weeks right now.

I'm happy to report that our bedtimes have been running a lot smoother!  WE ARE DONE WITH THE SWADDLE!!!!! So pumped.  We're still wrapping his legs because they're flying up over his right now...but his arms are out and its making things sooooo much easier.  He's still waking a lot right now...but the swaddle was such a fight, so now he settles easier.  My hubby and I took both arms out at once...expected a night from hell....and within minutes he was asleep.  It blew my mind. Again...he's still waking A LOT...but I've actually been able to put him down drowsy and he has fallen asleep on his own at BT and naps.  It's a big step :)

He had his 4 months shots last wed...and our EASY has been all over the place ever since.  Just trying to get back on track now.  He was sooooo sleepy all the time...so all that work getting his A time up to where it was is gone.  Time to start over.  Today he made it 1 hr 35 min before I took him upstairs and thats the longest he's gone for his first A time in days.  Need to get him up there to 2hrs.

How's everyone else?  Hope things didn't get too messed up over the holidays.  I tried to get naps in when I could and BT started at one house and ended in another...but he did pretty well considering.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hugs, sounds like you have been through WW madness, the shots can wreck havoc for a few days after but hopefully your LO will bounce back :) are you using a sleep sack now you are weaning the swaddle?

Merry Xmas :-*

DS handled the family madness well during the day- three days in a row. But BT last night and tonight were/are hell. He was way OS and OT from crappy naps in his travel crib and too many people passing him around, trying to get him to laugh, etc. Last night DS cried for an hour off and on while we tried our best to help him fall asleep. Eventually he knocked himself out from sheer exhaustion :(

Tonight we didn't get home until 6 so he is currently screaming while DH is holding him. So hard to wind down a LO after a whole day out!! I knew it was going to happen, and kept trying to get DH to stick with the plan of not leaving our family too late in the day, but he doesn't understand how hard it is for baby..That's why it's his job right now to soothe him ;)

Can't wait to get back on track! And I know next year the holidays won't be nearly so bad. But man, having a little babe this time of year is tough on us and him!

Absolutely.  Everyone is so excited to see them and don't think about what they're doing.  We just got to my fam's house and my LO had literally just fallen asleep 5 min before in the car....he was so tired.  I mentioned that when we walked in the house, but still everyone is in his face trying to make his smile and obviously excited to see him.  Poor little guy.  It's just one of those times of year when we have to just sit back and accept that everything is going to be f'd up...lol.

We have another function today....but this time my DH will be at work, so I'll be left with BT.  Good luck to me!

Well we had one day of rest before another family function that we have to go to today. I have to say, this holiday season was one of the most stressful I've ever had. I'll probably look back on it and only remember that it was DS's first, but won't remember anything else due to sleep deprivation lol.

Yesterday we took it easy, got outside once, and then really just focused on getting back on track. DS was exhausted from the day before getting only 13 hours of sleep total (really bad), so I put him to bed at 6pm. He woke up at 6:30 but I treated him as if it was the middle of the night- fed and back to bed. Still, he was restless in his crib for about an hour before he fell asleep. Then he woke up at 10, 1, and 4. At 4 he acted like he wanted to get up for the day. UGH! Another restless hour in the crib before falling back to sleep at 5, only to wake up at 6. THEN he acted tired by 7 so back to bed for a 50 minute nap. He is currently on nap #2 that started at 9:15am.

Naps are haywire, but I'm hoping to get him back on track, just in time for his 4-month growth spurt LOL.

Glad to hear he your DS is happily off the swaddle and hopefully recovered from his shots at this point. I forget, have you started sleep training yet?

Sleeping training starts tonight :(  Not looking forward to the sleepless night that I'm expecting.  Hey...maybe he's surprise us and do really well...lol.  His past couple nights have been much better than before.  Soooo much easier to put down and hasn't been waking as much....so we'll see.  Trying to stay positive.

The holidays definitely aren't like they used to be....lol

At the moment ;) if you need support for the NW or BT (night wakings, bed time) training feel free to post on the respective NW or general sleep boards for support and help, or PU/pd board if you are looking at using this method.x

Our nights have actually been going really really well!!!  Naps have been an absolute disaster.  Putting him into his crib awake today was horrible.  He only slept a total of 1 hr 50 min all day long....twice he fell asleep just passing out on the couch.  He fell asleep on his own those times, so thats great....but he isn't staying asleep because by the time he actually does on his own, he is so overtired and therefore we get the 30 min nap.  30 min is an overtired nap right?  and 40 UT?  Even though our night was great....because the day was such a mess, I'm exhausted.  Makes for a very long day when the LO is awake, upset and OT.

Lady...how are you doing?

Oh I dunno...I think I'm starting to get used to the fact that I may not get any sleep for several more months.

DS takes short naps, yesterday he woke up so cranky from one of them that there was nothing I could do but nurse him and put him back to bed.

Nights aren't good. He goes down okay (last night BT was at 7:15), but only sleeps in 2-3 hour increments, and then at about 5 or so he is just sort of "snoozing"- dozing off and on and being noisy and just not sleeping well. So after about 30 minutes of this I ask DH if he'll change DS and burp him, etc. and see if he'll go back down. Sometimes he will, but this morning he was wide awake for an hour, then slept for only 40 minutes before waking at 8. Basically I am awake from like 4:30-BT everyday. I really really hope this is just a phase. DS never really worked his nights out like all the books say he will. So now it's just worse than before.

ZacsMumme - if i were to push his A time to 2 hours...would he eventually adapt to being awake that long and then stop having over tired naps?
