DF question
« on: December 01, 2011, 19:51:48 pm »
Not sure if I'm posting this question in the right spot...

DS2 is 6 weeks old.  He is a constant pooper and has soiled diapers after every feed.  I am not sure if I should bother with a DF as I will need to change his diaper afterwards which will wake him up.  He is on a 3 hour EASY and will wake some time between 10 and 11 for a feed anyway.

Is there any advantage in terms of their night sleep if I do a DF vs just feeding when he wakes?  Will feeding him at a different point in his sleep cycle help with STTN?

I can only tell you out of my experience that because DS anyway woke up around that time for a feed I didn't do a DF, and it suited me because it was right before I went to bed.
If he is anyway waking up around that time and poops then there is nothing you can do about it anyway.

He is still VERY young so I personally think DF won't make much of  a difference regarding STTN because he is too young for that, but it might make a difference for you in pushing your next feed more into the night.

Thanks for your input.  I know he is way too young to STTN yet, but I wondered if doing the feed at that time would help set the foundation towards STTN.  The last 2 nights did 2 cluster feeds and then I fed him around 11:00 pm, and he didn't wake for a feed until 4:00/4:30 am - so I am happy with that!
