Is this the end of naps??
« on: December 02, 2011, 09:28:44 am »
DS is 26 months and for the last 2 to 3 weeks has been a real struggle to get down for a nap.  If we are at home he won't take a nap at all.  He'll go along with the normal routine and when we get to the part where he gets into bed he just refuses!  If I lift him in, he just jumps straight out.  But at daycare (twice a week) he will have a nap up to 3 hours, and if we are in the car or he is in the pram an hour either side of normal nap time - he will sleep.  He is sleeping a bit longer at night - he now sleeps in till 6:15 to 6:45 where before he was usually awake at 5:30.  I've asked daycare to restrict his nap to 2 hours max as it was taking forever to get him to sleep those nights.

Do you think I should just give up trying to get him to nap at home?

Thanks, Lewa

I wouldn't give up just yet.  You should hopefully find it's just a phase and he'll start napping again soon.  Keep offering it and if he won't take it then try and do a bit of quiet time and early bedtime those nights.

I hope you're right!!  I went for a drive yesterday because he was getting so tired yet would not go to bed, and sure enough he was asleep within seconds.  We'll see how the weekend goes....
