Trying to be successful with EASY
« on: December 16, 2011, 02:05:44 am »
Hi!
My baby is 11 weeks old and I am having a hard time getting her to sleep for her daytime naps and down at night. Once she is down for the night she only wakes up twice and goes down really after feeding in the middle of the night but during the day she wakes up after 20 or 30 minutes and then doesn't go back to sleep. It is making sticking to a routine impossible. I try to put her down drowsy but awake but as soon as I put her in her crib her eyes open and she starts pumping her legs and moving her head around. I don't know what to do. Do you have any suggestions?

Do you have a consistent wind down routine? Swaddle? Soother? White noise? Are you shh/patting?

Have a look at these links and let me know if you have any more questions.

I do swaddle her and we sit in the rocking chair and rock and I pat her back in the rocking chair.  I tried to do the shh/patt in the crib but she got really upset being on her side.  She does use a pacifier but I find it might be more of a prop since I have to go put it back in several times in order for her to continue to sleep.  I might not be putting her down early enough.  Her eyes are usually completely closed before I put her into her crib. Can I do the shh/patt while patting her tummy instead of her back or what do you suggest for babies that hate being on their side?  What do you do if the baby cries during the sitting phase of the 4s?  Do you skip it or keep trying to do it?

Try patting on her his or leg when she's on her back or just place a firm hand on her tummy or chest or wherever she likes it. Skip the sitting if she doesn't like. Some people do a slow dance instead. How long is she awake before you put her down to nap?
