4.5 months waking constantly!! Santa please bring is sleep!
« on: December 21, 2011, 13:15:45 pm »
Hi , my lo is 4.5 months old and up until her being 3 months she was a great sleeper, then she had injections, colds and teething:learning to roll over etc which all seemed to throw her off and she went from waking once for a feed to waking around ten times a night, sometimes settling and sometimes not.so we moved het into her own room, started doing pu/pd and we have seen
An improvement.she is now settling herself to sleep (before she had to be rocked) and on a night as soon as we put her dummy back in she goes back over.she is swaddled, but I don't Wang to stop this yet as I think this would create more problems .I want to wean her off the dummy bout it's now advised against this to prevent ssids until there 6 months. Anyone got any ideas ? Iv only just started reading bw and only just started doing the 4 hr easy with 8 oz each feed(she was on 6oz every 3 hours) thanks

Hi there, it does sound like the dummy has become a prop. Weaning it or not is a personal choice and only you can decide if you want to do that or not. If your LO needs it to fall back to sleep then she will likely keep waking and cry to be replugged. One thing to consider though is that PU/PD shouldn't be used with a dummy as it won't work properly. Shush/pat would be a better option if you are going to keep the dummy.

Have the NW started since you introduced porridge to your LO's diet? It is just that at such a young age solids can effect digestion and actually cause NW from discomfort. This happened with my DD when the doc recommended baby rice at 5 months for reflux. So we has to stop and wait until 6 mo.
