thanks so much!!  She said she doesn't even want to worry about that right now until we get him cleaned out. Then after he's ok we can start to figure things out.

Thanks Kara!! I will definitely keep u posted on his progress.  So far he has had 2 caps of miralax and its already watery but the Dr said that's just getting around the hard stuff. Its very compacted in there. :(

They told me to give him a suppository and it didn't work. :-( I don't know what to think...

Give it a few hours and try again :)  The poop has to be moved down quite low for a suppository to have an effect...

Did you manage to keep it in him for at least 20 mins?  It can be tough, but it can take that long to work when they are horribly backed up...

Have they ever done an enema on him to get things cleared out quickly?  That's what the dr did with Alexandra the first trip to the ER.. a Fleet enema (you can get them at the drugstore, just use half of the liquid) and then three consecutive days of glycerin suppositories to get her all sparkly on the inside ;)

I used the baby lax version of the glycerine since the pop right out. This is more effective for us. He is sleeping now but will evaluate better on the morning. I may have to try the enema...u think the miralax and senna will work better tomorrow though?

Kara, I need your advice....I ended up doing the enema this morning and all that came out was brown water....the nurse practitioner thinks there is a blockage in there keeping him from getting everything out.  Do you think eventually the miralax is going to start working?? I am having trouble getting him to drink enough of it today and he is barely eating.  :(

The miralax will clear a blockage but it can take up to 5 days to do it... since he isn't drinking much, have you tried using his fav puree and mixing the miralax into that?  I had to do that with A a few times... I could easily get 2 tsp mixed into a tsp of puree... I'm sure you could get a whole capful into a tbsp!  I did find that it made the puree runnier though so don't use anything that is already really runny!  Does he like jarred peas?  They are fairly thick on their own...

How long did he hold the enema before he let go?

Ok thanks. Problem is he isn't eating anything but crackers. Dr told me just let it go and hopefully we got enough meds in him to Move things.he kept the enema in for about 5 minutes. Hopefully reducing the meds males him feel better and start to eat!

Poor guy... 5 mins isn't long at all for an enema... A held it for 15 mins in the hospital ;)  That was messy!

I would stay away from crackers - they will only add to the constipation hun... I would just offer a bit of jarred beans, pears... both gentle and easy to digest... he will eat when he is ready...

YAY!  That's awesome!  the fat in the sausage might help lube things up a bit ;)  Might be a good idea to stand back ;)
