Not sure what the official recommendation is but C had it from about 7 months I think. It was one of her big favourites for ages! :)

Do you have a family history of allergies?  I know they go back and forth on the the whole avoid vs. feed it to them younger, but our allergist had us hold off until after age 3 for seafood as we have a huge family history on both sides of asthma/ezcema/allergies.

Becky, have you read through the NHS pages on weaning or been given the booklet by your HV? As far as I am aware the UK guidelines are to wait until 6 months (unless advised otherwise by your GP/HV) but then include a range of foods (with the exceptions of honey, nuts, some fish, raw eggs, etc). If there is a history of allergies use the three day rule.

Here is a lnk from the NHS that says it is OK to introduce fish (not Shark, swordfish and marlin) from 6 months. Well actually what is says is don't introduce it before 6 months!

Buntybear- Any chance you know of a site similar to the one you posted but for us Canadians?  Here they say to try something new for 3 days.... But we have no allergies or chronic illnesses in our families so Im wondering if I even need to bother? E will be 6months on Monday.

I would do the 3 day rule in the beginning - you never know how they're going to react to solids at first and it's good to be able to figure out what might be causing reactions.

MM - In BC, there is no restrictions at all on when to intro things anymore... with the exception of a family history of allergies.

It's officially a free for all here now ;)
