The Holidays have seemed to throw my 3yr old for a loop
« on: January 06, 2012, 21:45:18 pm »
DD will be 3 in 2 weeks and we returned home 4 days ago after being at my parents house for a week and half.  While there DD developed a serious fear of monsters that I'm attributing her lack of sleep to.  She insisted that the windows be bare and therefore light may have been a factor in her early rising.  Saturday night she slept 7 hours, and Sunday night she slept 9 hours.  She did have naps those days of about 1.5 -2 hours but since we've been home things have not gotten back to normal.  She has been waking around 7am when she normally will wake about 8:30am.  She took 2 hours last night to fall asleep and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep before she did.  So at 11pm she finally feel asleep to wake at 7:30 this morning.  She had a 1.5 hour nap yesterday.  Do you think she is still over tired?  I put her down for a nap today and she was in there for 1.5hours just as happy as can be?  no nap? How on earth can I combat this OT? Or is it OT?  I'm just not sure.   I kind of feel like if I let her nap too long she will take it off her night?  but I'm not sure?  I actually thought she wasn't affected by OT anymore :-\

F is more affected by OT now than he was as an infant.  How is her behaviour?  It could just be a weird developmental blip.  But if there are any behavioral effects then I think she's wildly OT.  I know Finn would be on those short nights.

What routine are you aiming for? ie wake and bedtime
The tweaking never stops!

Strangely enough behavior has been horrid for the last 5 days but today on so little sleep she was an angel until she had a super big breakdown at dinner because she couldn't stab her kiwi with her fork.  She is usually soooo good and making up sleep at night when she misses a nap or has a short night, but this has gone a little farther than we have before.  We usually aim for wake at 8 or 8:30am and bedtime at 8 or 8:30pm.  Sometimes she has a nap in the afternoon but I never let it go more than 1.5 hours.  She was very sporadic with naps before the holidays taking naps every day one week to non the next.
