Gone off all solids at 9 months?
« on: January 09, 2012, 14:03:42 pm »
My DD is 9 months on the 19th Jan...she has always been a very good eater to the point I was worried about overfeeding. She has three meals a day and until two weeks ago used to wolf it all down - she was good with finger food and spoons too. She was able to eat pretty much anything and she had the ability to chew quite well. Recently she has become disinterested in food and only has an appetite for milk. She especially wont take spoon fed proper meals but may try a bit of fruit. WHats happened? She now just plays with it and procrastinates. She doesnt cry but just doesnt care either? We are getting by on milk and a bit of finger food but she is only taking about a 3rd of her normal consumption. She was weaned at 5 months x

It's very likely teething that's at the root of this!

Don't worry, she will eat again when her mouth isn't so sore. You can try pain meds 30 mins before a meal to see if that helps?

In that case it could be the molars moving under the gums - that can be much more painful than the incisors cutting as they are bigger.

DS went off food much more with molars than with incisors  :(

The bad news is that molars can shift around quite a lot before they start to erupt, and some LOs really notice them!

Have you tried pain meds before eating?
