6am start????????????
« on: January 13, 2012, 23:09:58 pm »
Hi chaps - am new to the site and wondered if I could have a little advice and words of wisdom.
I am currently transferring my daughter from a 3 to 4 hour routine, which is proving pretty problematic for a number of reasons. She isn't the easiest of babes - touchy/spirited combo - but has huge personality which I secretly love (when not sleep deprived!).
Naps have been an issue from day one (my inexperience/paranoia over breastfeeds) but are slowly improving using PUPD and self-soothing techniques.
So the problems - she wakes at 5.30 cooing and happy. After 15mins she is furious. She will eventually fall back to sleep about 6.15, and I wake her at 7. If I feed her at 5.30 she will fall asleep on me, so I know she isn't necessarily hungry. Not sure whether to put her down again and wake her at 7, or hold off until 7?
The other problem is the A time after the 11 feed. She will only last until 12. Today I held her off until 12.30 and the nap was predictably short as she was so overtired. It is suggested 12.45/1 but I cant see that she'll ever last that long! This means the rest of the day is affected as she is overtired and would never last until 2.30/3 for the next feed. Any advice - not sure if I'm missing something. I wouldn't normally 'clock' watch but I am trying to make the transition to 4/4 as she is one week shy of 5 months.
Thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi and welcome
It is really common for los to wake in the early hours. What do you do with her when she becomes furious? What self settling techniques are yoou referring to?
Does she go to sleep independently or does she have any props like a dummy, rocking, being held or fed to sleep?
Can you lost the typical easy she is doing now so we can see how her naps and wake times and feeds fit in? EAS format please.
