What did you do?  I'd probably have gone later (i.e. stick with 5.5hrs A) b/c she'd possibly be UT & do a short nap & you then run the risk of OT at BT.  Its tricky when they throw a later WU in there!  For a while we actually woke O in the mornings so he could do the exact same A time every day & that helped to keep things stable.  I'd probably be reluctant to do that at this stage though b/c you have yet to push it all later & if she's getting OT its the best way for her to catch up.

I think at the moment the a time to bed is too long. So that is why I am keen to keep it the same.
Ah I understand now - so she is doing approx 5.5hrs A to BT already.  In that case, I would keep BT the same until you have a 5hr A to BT after a 2hr nap, i.e. once nap is 11.30-1.30 & BT is 6.30, THEN you can start to move it all at the same time so when nap is 12-2, BT is 7pm IYSWIM?

So I just went by her yesterday and even though she woke at 6.40 she was tired at 11.10 so put her down and she slept till 1pm. Back in bed at 6.15 took about 30mins to fall asleep, she called out a fee times but I didn't go in. She woke at 5.15am.......I think the mosque is waking her at this time???? It woke me an I watched the monitor and as soon as here white noise track was finished she stirred as well, I have a cd in the room on repeat and it is loud, but the track is only 19 mins long! So some days it will be playing during the mosque call for prayer, other times it won't

It does sound like things are getting better, though. Can you download some more white noise so that you have a longer cd and it is more likely that she will not be disturbed by the mosque?

no idea, she just cannot self settle after a NW. Dh went in and rubbed her head for a while, this was after an hour and a half of WI/WO!
we leave her until the crying escalates....anyway put her down today at 11 and she is shouting and singing in her cot, i suppose OT from the nw??

She is in bed an hour now and still awake, checked nappy all clean. She is just chatting a rolling around. Think we may have complete nap refusal today! I am sick to my stomach thinking about a no nap day and what the night might bring! If she doesn't nap do I still stick to the set bedtime of 6.30pm?

Hiya, have your better nights been after shorter naps? Just wondering if you need to cap a little, although may be better to start moving your day forward before considering that. ??? Remind me what age is she now?

Are you still doing the fixed 11am nap? The rolling around sounds UT, maybe time to move the nap on to 11.30?

Hi, yes in the end I went in at 12 and lifted her and rocked her to sleep, she was asleep within about 30 seconds. I had to wake her at 2pm. I put her down a little later, maybe 6.40 and she was asleep quickly. She woke at 5.30 this morning. Napped today from 11 to 1. I had to wake her again but struggled to fall asleep At bed time. So I guess nap is too long, but I can't cut it until we start to move nap forward??? When do you think I should start that?

It's hard when she's waking early but I think you do need to start moving it on to get out of this loop. Would she last to 11.15? Claire has done this recently so may be along to offer more advice on how she did it.

I know it's a bit late now but a 7pm bedtime may have been better yesterday to keep a 5hr A time after that later nap. Although, I know you don't want to push her too much to avoid OT.

What time did she settle tonight?

that all sounds really positive. A 2 hour nap and pretty much an 11 hour night :)
In terms of pushing the day forward most people push out the nap by 15 mins every few days so as KDee nap would be around 11.15am.

Hi Amy

Yes as KDee says I did do this recently, basically I just pushed the nap later by 15mins every week, & kept him up til nap time regardless of when he woke.  So to start with we were doing 11-1 with a 6pm BT.  Then it was 11.15-1.15 & 6.15pm BT & so on, until we got to a 12.30-2.30 nap and a 7.30pm BT.  It took a long time & he got very overtired in the process, but it most definitely helped with the early starts.  You could do it more quickly i.e. every few days if you feel she will cope with it ok - we started off like this but Oliver got very overtired so I slowed it down & pushed 15mins later per week.

WRT when you should start capping the nap, I would say if you can get the nap to start consistently at midday at the absolute earliest, then if you are still getting EW or long NW, then you could perhaps look at starting to trim it down as you push it out towards 12.30, so you do nap from 12.15 - 2pm, BT at 7pm and then nap 12.30-2pm, BT at 7pm.  Something like that.

What do you think?

Ok starting tomorrow will do nap 11.15 but keep bedtime at 6.30 as now she is OT by bedtime as the a between nap and bt is quite long for her.
