Was the second nap a happy wake up?  You usually get a longer nap there don't you?

no unfortunately I nearly always have to re settle or she wakes and then settles herself. she is usually happy when she wakes from naps. I tried for a cn as she was rubbing her eyes but she did not go for it.  She is sooo hard to work out.

Sorry Becky, I thought nap 2 was usually a good one.
How long into the sleep do you resettle at?

You've only increased the A in small increments haven't you?

well yes although the last few days we seem to have had shorter naps and longer A times so she must be way OT I guess.

Nap 2 is usually better than nap 1 but nap 1 is usually 40 mins and nap 2 varies from 30 mins to 2 hours on a very good day. She has always been a poor napper. I rarely manage to resettle her these days so unless I have to I try not to go in to her when she wakes. If she is going to re settle she usually does it by herself.

This is why we still have  CN but she would not have it tonight and I would so love it to go.

Thing is it is not like she does long nights either. If she did I would not worry but 10.5-11 is quite normal for her.

what do you think?

OK, nap 1 hasn't lengthened yet, but I would expect her to take a few days and possibly more A time to get the longer nap.
Nap 2 is getting very hard to extend, leads me to think she's just not tired enough to get another cycle, but she needs it, leading to OT later.

She's been on quite a short A for some time if I remember rightly, so I am cautious to push up too quickly, her body clock needs to adjust.  If you think she can take a little more than the 3hrs tomorrow then go for it, but if not just hover there for a couple of days and let her adapt to it, then up again.

I know those 10.5 - 11hr nights.  DS was exactly the same until we dropped to 1 nap per day at 11 months.  He now goes more like 12 - 13hrs per night and boy do I feel the benefit :)  Just hope it stays that way a while.

I put her down at 1.50 pm as she was yawning and she went straight down. I am worried she is OT tbh but she is handling it pretty well if she is. I am always worried about OT!!

ok well she slept 1.50-2.30pm but seriously she can't be UT can she? I feel a bit lost with her. I know that 2 naps is what we need to have as she is starting to refuse a 3rd and...well she is 8.5 months but i don't know where i am going so wrong with these A times.

It is so frustrating - I feel so bad for her if she is OT but STTN last night does not say horrendous OT to me and ok she woke at 5.10am but she re settled.

I am really hoping she re settles herself, it seems if i have to go in it is pretty much game over.

good news to report. She resettled until 3.30pm so in total a 1.40 nap. Phew!
Maybe she does need to be pushed a little with the A times?
Aiming for 6.30/45pm bedtime - hope that is ok x

so today looked like this in the end...
A 6.10am
S - 9.15-9.55 and then until 10.30am
S - 1.50-2.30 and then until 3.30pm :)
Bedtime - in bed 6.35pm asleep by 6.40pm

Hope this looks ok - I am not sure I have much of a plan still, feel like we are winging it but at least we are having more 2 than 3 nap days. Is the general feeling she needs more or less A time? Anyone spot anything to guide me in the right direction?

It looks like things are gradually going in the right direction.

The 2 naps, although not brilliant, are spread a little more to get through to BT without the CN.

I would take the first A up a bit either tomorrow or the next day depending how you judge her handling the A time tomorrow.  Maybe take the first A up 10 mins and leave the second as it is.  Your second A seems to often be longer than the first even though it's coming after a shorter nap so whilst the first nap is improving (and successfully extended) maybe don't push that second A too hard OK?

It will still take her a little while to settle into the new routine.

thanks - will do. I think maybe she needed longer A to bed as she was chatting for a bit around 3.30am but then slept till 6am so will aim for 9.15am nap. Her second nap yesterday was longer than the previous day or two and she had a shorter last A time...
